Interview Is Over

Recommended Posts

My friends...

Just got off the phone with Jing Mei. This is the post I've dreamed of writing for the last five months.

For what it's worth, here were the questions:

1. How did you meet?

2. That is his baby? (Answer: No. Some UFO landed and ...)http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/alles_moegliche/mixed-smiley-014.gif===> http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/d0/intercourse.gif===> http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a0/baby.gif

3. Can I see I-134?

4. Does Dave love your son Roger?

The whole thing lasted 5 minutes. Pre-screening? I think so. Now that I'm a veteran, allow me to lecture ya'll. Be obsessive. Over prepare. Sweat the minutia. And, you too will do well. Yeah...it cost me a few nights sleep but it was all worth it.

I think the part of the story that touches me the most deeply was her 10 year old son. He's SO cool! Now, perhaps this would be considered child abuse in the US, but Jing Mei has been telling him he needed to study hard in school so he could pass "the test" at GZ. She said if he failed "the test," he would have to stay in China when she came to America. Anything to get the kid to focus on his homework (smart kid but L-A-Z-Y). I think Roger was scared to death when he entered the interview. At some point, Roger needed to write something. When he returned the pen, he told the VO in English, "Give you." Well, as far as I'm concerned, he passed "the test" with flying colors! His English is extremely basic and he gets so shy when he uses it. To come up with "give you" in that stressful situation....well, for him, it was huge. I really do love that kid.

I'm feeling a bit verklempt right now so I'll sign off. So much to reflect on. But, I can't go back to bed without expressing my sincere gratitude to everyone on CFL. The information has been invaluable. CFL has been a great distraction as well. Sure, we've teased each other and have even done battle. But, I know deep in my heart that CFL got me through all this crap. It was always there for me 24/7 when issues came up. Of all the times I turned to CFL for assistance, the one time that stands out for me right now was the help I needed with the baby. Rob's advice and insights got us to the Chengdu Consulate and took away the threats to our baby. Okay...getting verklempt again...you have no idea what that meant to us. Thank you all!!!!!

P.S.

What is the answer to the question "Where / How did you meet?"

Should one talk about our actual "Dates" together or our correspondence on th internet?

I.E. My meeting her 10 steps off of the plane in the Istanbul airport on our way to Egypt, or discuss the months of exploring our feelings with e-mail before that trip?
