Vista vs XP vs Leopard

Recommended Posts

You should also check out how you want to run winders on your iMac.

There are two versions of VirtualBox, and they are both free for personal use. There is the official Sun release, and the open source version that is a bit more full featured.

Then there are two commercial products. One is Parallels, the other is Fusion.

These products allow you to run OS X and the other OS as an application.

Finally there is Apples solution, which is Bootcamp. With Bootcamp, your iMac is either running OS X, or winders.

Either way, I would say you should go with XP.

Ok, thanks. So where can I buy XP? I can't seem to find any copies anywhere.

www.tigerdirect.com

www.geeks.com

Both had it for $89.95 Two weeks ago

Ebay also but price not sure of.

Shipping is extra best I know.

Try your local cpu private owned stores.

Sometimes price is better with no shipping charges.

Maybe you want to try an open-source OS, like Ubuntu. There is now a QQ linux client http://im.qq.com/qq/linux/ released earlier this year....

Yep sam wants his share.

Urkidding ain't kidding pro would

be better. Make sure its at least sp2.

Sp3 if can find it. Better to have it included.

Downloading sp's from update can mess your

system up even running only xp. Even

more on a mac.

I've got Vista on one computer and XP on the other four. Vista sucks!! It's slow and over does the protection thing--It's a royal pain. XP is light years better!

absolutely agree. I install large format printer RIP software for a living and Vista makes my work day miserable with it's "over-zealous" protection.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have XP in my new desktop from Dell.

I did not take advantage of their free upgade to Vista software, included in the deal.

I just noticed this interesting link:

How could microsoft get something so important, so very wrong !?

Guest Tony n Terrific

So we just bought a new computer, an iMac with a 1 terabyte hard drive. It's really a nice computer. The only problem with it though is that it doesn't have a very good QQ application. QQ for mac only has basic file sharing and chat functions, no video or voice chat features.

So we were thinking of loading Vista or XP on the unit using bootcamp in order to use these programs, but can't decide on which one. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Rumor is today that Windows Vista maybe saying Gone With The Wind, Critics, Sweet Potato Pie and shut my mouth.

Definitely XP!

There's a reason why Microsoft is scrapping Vista. I never liked it in the first place. It was nothing innovative since XP. just more fancy grahpics, gimmicks and a memory hog. There's so many compatibility issues.

XP will give you a much smoother experience.
