There are two versions of VirtualBox, and they are both free for personal use. There is the official Sun release, and the open source version that is a bit more full featured. Then there are two commercial products. One is Parallels, the other is Fusion. These products allow you to run OS X and the other OS as an application. Finally there is Apples solution, which is Bootcamp. With Bootcamp, your iMac is either running OS X, or winders. Either way, I would say you should go with XP. Make sure its at least sp2.Sp3 if can find it. Better to have it included.Downloading sp's from update can mess yoursystem up even running only xp. Evenmore on a mac. It's slow and over does the protection thing--It's a royal pain. XP is light years better!absolutely agree. I did not take advantage of their free upgade to Vista software, included in the deal. Guest Tony n Terrific Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 So we just bought a new computer, an iMac with a 1 terabyte hard drive. It's really a nice computer. The only problem with it though is that it doesn't have a very good QQ application. QQ for mac only has basic file sharing and chat functions, no video or voice chat features. So we were thinking of loading Vista or XP on the unit using bootcamp in order to use these programs, but can't decide on which one. Any suggestions. It was nothing innovative since XP. just more fancy grahpics, gimmicks and a memory hog. There's so many compatibility issues. XP will give you a much smoother experience.
