Trigg
Well poo! I guess the idea of my fiancee traveling back with me after the visa is approved just went down the crapper. The hotel reservation isn't a problem, its the fact that I will have to have a round trip ticket booked. RT tickets are easy to change in China-usually costs around $100.00 or less. yuehan123
RT tickets are easy to change in China-usually costs around $100.00 or less. And, or at least they were, particularly easy to change if you specify "open ended return" when you purchase the r/t. I recall I paid almost exactly what Trigg said in 2005. Well, a little more with inflation and exchange rates factored in.
audelair
Just wanted to say that I got my visa. www.mychinavisa.com was very fast and easy to deal with. I just attached an invitation letter and copy of airline tickets and everything went very smoothly. 1 year multiple-entry visa.
SteveK
Has anyone purchased a 2 year Chinese tourist visa? Last year, I asked for a 2 year visa and was denied (according to the visa service I used). I wonder if I was really denied, or the visa service only asked for a 1 year visa so they can get more return business. If anyone has a 2 year visa, which visa service did you use? Thanks
Sebastian
I've not heard of a 2 year tourist visa, but I have heard of a 2 year residency permit (not the same thing at all). Where have you heard of a 2 year tourist visa? Warmest Regards...
SteveK
I've not heard of a 2 year tourist visa, but I have heard of a 2 year residency permit (not the same thing at all). Where have you heard of a 2 year tourist visa? Warmest Regards... The 2 year L visa is relatively new. It is typically given to Chinese Americans with relatives in China. But, according to the Chinese Embassy website, it can also be given to foreign born spouses of Chinese citizens. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/zgqz/t84246.htmForeign spouse and children of a Chinese citizen may apply for a Multiple Entry ¡°L¡± Visa valid for 24 months. The original and photocopy of relevant Marriage Certificate,Birth Certificate, Kinship Certificate and other necessary documents are required to provide. That said, I believe they will give 2 year visas to anyone who has made frequent trips to China. The cost (if purchased directly from the consulate) is the same as the 1 year visa, so it is really a bargain and time saver. The strange thing is not all visa application forms show a 2 year visa option. I use visamailservice.com and their Q1 form does have the 2 year option:http://www.visamailservice.com/forms.php Steve Edited October 23, 2008 by SteveK (see edit history)
SteveK
BTW, according to one visa service website, China no longer requires plane and hotel reservations to obtain a visa. http://chinavisaservice.org/New Visa Regulations: Starting September 26,2008 - It is no longer required to provide flight details and hotel confirmations. The China Embassy website has not confirmed this, but I hope it is true.

Most folks figured that they were only tightening the screws for the Olympics and that they would go back to the old ways this fall--looks like they are correct. I've never heard of it before but I'll certainly qualify for it when I need to get my visa renewed next October Have a terrific day!Bob
Daviation
It is true, most of the visa requirements are back to the pre-Olympics process. I was in Shenzhen last week. I'm in HK now, then on to Nanning tomorrow. You can now get visas in the HK airport again... turn in your passport to CTS in the morning, getting it back in the afternoon. Pretty much back to the previous status quo.
