Received NOA I-485 Transferred to California Center

NOA received today stated "in order to speed up the processing of your I-485 Application, it has been transferred to the California Service Center (Laguna)". Is this normal, good news, or bad news?

Normal. We had the same thing happen and ours went pretty smoothly.

NBC will do 1 of 2 things, they send it to your field office for interview, OR they send it to CSC for adjudication and possible approval without interview.

 

Ours went to CSC and was approved in about 4 months.

That's what I was hoping it meant. Lately, I have been hearing about approvals happening without interview and was wondering if this could be happening in our case.

Very possible-several who had them sent to CSC by another CS magically got the GC without an interview!

We were one of those cases resulting in approval without interview.

Good to know it went to CSC as ours did. Let us both hope that we can get our GC's without the interview. We would have to drive 5 hours to attend ours.

Hoping your AP and EAD are soon to follow. Hopefully you have or will add all the receipt numbers to the online case status at USCIS's website in order to follow all applications.

Congrats also on the timely biometrics appointment. We were late in receiving ours, but all is behind us now.

Set up a customer portfolio account. If you already have one, add your recent three receipt numbers. They all begin with MSC. Or, you can just use the "online" prompt and enter your numbers there.

Your I-485 receipt number should be listed by now, but the AP and EAD receipt numbers may take some time before they are entered in order to view them.
