Sad story but also very eye opening!!

It means many things depending on how you read it, will these people now blow visa papers through or go the other way?? It is also funny how they report that Vermont and California do the same job in not the same way?? :bangin:

We could look at it two ways.

1. They are not closing down a center.

2. See number 1.

Only time will tell what happens with this.

they may not be closing a center but they just tripled the cost for a visa now they tell the worker they will make less. does not make for happy workers. will not help us can only make matters worst they are all ready 3 months behind.

This may be true on not making a happy worker, but still they are not closing down a center. If they were it would be even more of a nightmare.

Very true and it may slow things down even more! But in many cases where an outside contractor comes in to run an agency it does get better in the long run!

What an incredible mess the CIS is in. Those of us in the pre-Noa 1 to NOA 2 stage may suffer dearly over this mess. It's hard to tell, but we may also benefit from it. Time will tell.

If the new contractor can create financial incentives for the top 50% of workers, this might mean that workers will get these incentives for a higher appplication completion rate. Of course, this is only a conjecture. I would do a happy dance if I knew that the workers at CSC were coming into work early, working on their lunch hour and working overtime to get these applications out the door faster. A better alternative would be to simply hire more workers. After this article, I'm not sure the CIS went ahead and hired the 1500 more workers that was previously reported on the CIS site. It appears that instead of hiring these workers, a decision was made to outsource the services to a contractor who swiftly made a decision to degrade the workers position levels based on seniority rather then the work thats done by the CIS workers. For a new boss, that can only serve to alienate all the employess who have worked for CIS less then 3 years. Go figure...just like a corporate enviornment. How this all plays out will be interesting to watch.

Based on the projections of VJ, my K1 application should be processed for P2 by December 21st. We will see what happens.

Just a interesting side note. Did any of you notice one of the company names quoted in the article was Northrop Grumman. If this is the Northrop Grumman I'm thinking it is then maybe they should stick to building moon landers and military hardware. I've seen first hand what happens when a high tech aerospace company gets involved in things outside of their box of thinking. It isn't very nice looking in what happens. :surrender:

But then again a company that can build a moon lander may just be what we need, time will tell.

I'm thinking that change may be good Claire, or not. I don't see the connection between outsourcing (where position levels have been downgraded according to seniority; many workers and managers are now unemployed due to having their contract offers rescinded because they congregated and protested this decrease of pay) and increased fees. However, I do see a connection between increased fees and increased profits for the new contractor. That makes more sense to me.

Change is good. This is probably why all the applications especially the I-129F and AOS prices went higher.

I am saying this because outsourcing is generally viewed as a way to keep costs down.

It totally doesn't make sense, they raised up the price for the visas times higher, but then cut the wage of the workers who are handling the applications' cases. What are they thinking? Everything of the process is behind, too much suffering, this is the responsibility they are taking for the citizens who are paying tax every year? god, its suckssssssssss!

Hi Dianepc

Yeah, it sucks all right. And it doesn't make sense at all. We have a serious mess going on at the CIS. So serious ( 2.4 million new applications which was 1.3 million more then the prior year) they decided to hire more workers last month ( 1500 workers were what was previously reported last month by the CIS ) and then changed their minds and decided to outsource the whole visa thing. And now the new contractor has degraded many of the positions and the fees are now higher then ever. On top of all that, when the people with less then 3 years experience protested a pay cut, many had their contract offers rescinded by the new contrator. The protesters just wanted to get paid for the work they were already doing at the CIS. This whole thing is a nightmare over there...and if it weren't for our dependence on the CIS for getting it right, I'm thinking our personal stories here would make for a very good lifetime movie.
