Places to see in Shenzhen

Recommended Posts

About to take my first trip to Shenzhen and see my Ada. Can any of you suggest some sights to see? I'm sure she will have some idea's already thought of, but I just thought it might be nice to show that I took some interest in where she lives. :D

Can't wait, only 30 days and counting......... :D :D

Window of the World is great, Happy Valley, Safari Park, and of course going to beach all great. There is plenty of choices for eating, both Chinese and western, also went to the movies there. It sounds funny, but it is quite a change from here, assigned seats and all the people on cell phones!! B) There is an observation floor in one of the buildings, just can not remember the place?? I will look for my ticket stub tonight and write you again!!

Don't confine yourselves to Shenzhen. I am sure she will be even happier if you took an interest in her country as a whole.

Take her on a romantic trip, Guilin. Guilin has a forbidden palace that was home to one of the princes in China. This city is a great place to buy jade a resonable prices. Stay the night in this city and make sure the two of you stroll on the river walk at night. Next day take the Li River cruise to Yongshou. This is a great cruise through some absolutely beautiful countryside. It is a four hour cruise so you get lunch during the trip. They have both Chinese and English speaking boats. Yongshou is very interesting itself. There is much to do in Yongshou for a small town. Western street is a great area with many places to eat and shops to buy Chinese gifts for family that are hard to find elsewhere. They also have a water ballet that if you can watch is absolutely incredible. It is run at night for effect. They tell a local story similar to Romeo and Juliet. Spend the nigth and see some very interesting countryside the next day. This is a trip I recommend to all new couples.

I totally agree. If you have the time definately get out of the city. Guilin and the river cruise would be great. I wished we had been able to do that when I was there for the interview. IMHO Shenzhen isn't like Shanghai or Beijing as far as being an interesting place in and of itself. The places Shenzhen K1 mentions are nice enough and worth seeing, but Shenzhen itself is kind of antiseptic because it's a relatively new city. The air certainly isn't antiseptic, but the place is.

Just my opinion.

Cool, Pete! I like the photos and comments about the city.

My wife had set up a trip to SZ on a tourist bus. She told me about it the night before but I thought she meant just taking a public bus and not a guided trip to SZ. Anyways, I went along with it. I said, why not? Let's go for it. So we did. A bus full of Chinese and I'm the only "lao wai."

There's alot to talk about pertaining to this trip but for the most part it was fun. We got to see Shen Zhen. :)

That's where my lady and I are going. Were planning to spend 3-4 days there.

Can't wait.

The place to go see the whole city is the Shenzhen Meridian View Centre, it is a great place to see the city and Hong Kong!! :harhar1:

Just remember C, you are going there to see her, the rest is just stuff. We made the mistake the first trip spending too much time doing paper work and other stuff, and we did not spend enough time getting used to each other. The 2nd trip was meet family and just be with each other, a great time!! The third trip was a nice vacation that my Mrs. turned into the how you can see all of Beijing in 8 day trip!!!!!!

You know what I mean, get used to each others habits and what each finds important. You are trying to figure out if she is really the one in one short trip that you might do with a women here over a two year period!! :)
