Special circumstances

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this forum. Just found it today and have a question for those more experienced in these matters...

My wife and I were married in China early November... Our I-130 and K-3 applications were filed in January... Received NOA's saying our petition was approved March 29, '03... Our case is now at the NVC and has been in security check "since mid-April" according to the nice lady on the phone.

So, it was in late December that we found out my wife was pregnant :D

Now she is into her sixth month of pregnancy and, with SARS (even though it's waining) and the quality of health care there, I REALLY don't want her to have the baby there. Everyone in my family has been contacting their Congressperson about our case.

Does anyone know if there are ways to plead special circumstances?

You can be sure it didn't take the NBA so long to get Yau Ming (the basketball player) over here. You know there have to be ways to get things done...

Rob (missing his wife Youyue)

Yes, pregnancy is a special circumstance for expedited visa. Let NVC know. Let them know by registered letter with a cc: to your Representative. I would also contact directly your State Rep and explain the circumstances. You want your child born in America. Once your package gets to Guangzhou (Canton), where the people speak Guangzhounese, let the consulate know with another registered letter with a cc: to your Rep. :D :D Congratulations!!!!

Saw one post on 001 the other day.  Simular to yours, file I-130 then I-129 and found to be preganant.  Got their P3 real fast and now have the interview date set in mid June.  Super fast! Maybe you can try to find them and get some advise.

Can someone tell me where I can find this "001?"

(I feel like the new kid in school.... "where's room 001?"

That 001 site is all in a character set my computer won't display. And even if it could display it, I don't read Chinese. (Speak Cantonese but can't read a lick.)

I've emailed my wife to ask her to check out this website. In the meantime, doesn't anyone know how I can contact this JJ person?

TIA! (Already, in one day, this site has been invaluable for me.)

I think you will find this site, in addition to be a storehouse of valuable information, is filled with love, support, and wisdom. :)

The "naughty" terms on the 001 board are not just in Chinese either. My wife picked up some in English from there. Since there doesn't seem to be the cultural stigma to cursing in Chinese that there is in English I had a bit of difficulty getting through to her why she shouldn't use that language. Finally sunk in when I told her that my Mother would probably slap her if she used such language and would think that she was a "bad person". (At least the getting slapped part was true!)
