My wife got her driver's license in December, but was fearful of driving and getting lost. So we always went the same way to the store and such to help her get used to getting there. Then I searched and found that Garmin makes a GPS that speaks and displays in 5 asian languages, one of them is Chinese. We bought it and put it in the car, and the only problem now is making sure she keeps her eyes on the road and not the GPS. It has been a BIG help.

For those interested, it is the Garmin C330 Asian version. Runs for about $300 on the internet. As far as I can tell, it is the only one out there.

I was given a nice garmin for a present awhile back. It is too hit/miss to be worth the bother. I had it replaced under warranty twice with no improvement.

As a hiker and climber I would LOVE to have a reliable GPS (could have been extremely helpful when Ling and I went hiking up on Mt. Hood yesterday) but I've found them to be completely useless for anything other than an altimeter up in our Oregon and Washington mountains.
