Eric&Yuhui
HI,i got a letter today from Lisa piascik in CA and she said one of the goverment agencies has put a hold on my wifes case for clearance. need more time ? well has anyone been ever told this? PM me if so. thanksyes, just a few people .... I counted 1/2 dozen recently... We / I have no idea why at this point in this group...I don't think this is a "hit" FBI style .... You might want to call back and asks for specifics. I would, definitely.Good luck to you... This is getting worrisome however..as it started happening 10 days ago I am starting to think that on DHS request, State is pulling some cases at random for audit and procedures checks.... Then again. DHS has nothing to do yet with visa clearances.. This is State's sandbox...It's just my thought... I hope I am totally wrong... Link to comment
Mick
I recall several people reporting this on the board recently, but not many. It could mean any number of things but, as Eric says, I would push hard for specifics. Could be some sort of "hit" or it could in fact be related to the upcoming DHS issue. One board member offered the opinion that it was DOJ related but this was only speculation. I know this hasn't helped you much but I would just say, check into it as thoroughly as possible. orbitalpunk
Here is what the letter said. Dear Mr. xxxxx: Assistant Secretary Maura Harty has asked us to respond to your e-mail ofFebruary 27 requesting information about the immigrant visa application ofxxxx xxxx. We last corresponded with you about this case on January 3. Letme assure you again that we fully understand that delays in visa issuanceare seriously complicating the lives of applicants and of those who arewaiting for their arrival. Your wife's case is still pending completion of required security-relatedvetting through an interagency clearance process. Changes to this processmade in July 2002, together with communications problems, computer issues, and vastly increased work volumes, have had the effect of delaying manyclearances. We are working with the relevant agencies to complete all clearancerequests. We are also working with technical experts here in Washington inan attempt to find new ways to expedite the clearance process. Unfortunately, your wife's clearance will not be processed as quickly asmost others are. A government agency has placed a hold on the process. Weare working with the other agency to resolve this issue so that we mayprocess the case to conclusion. However, we expect that a significantamount of time may be required to do so. When Ms. xxxx clearance processis concluded, the Consulate will notify her. We hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Lisa PiascikDirectorOffice of Public and Diplomatic LiaisonVisa Services Link to comment
rfsun
That is a boiler plate letter. It is the same as mine except for one word, wife/fiancee. We need to press for an unhold. They use the word "hold" I suggest hole'd as it merely implies the black hole. Link to comment

Mick
So sorry to hear that SBS. I didn't know you were the wife involved. I think the only thing to do is just press for information and I am sure your husband will do that. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I think several people have received this letter. I am at a loss to say what it may actually mean as it is basically a form letter and really kind of vague. One suggestion is that your husband maybe put a post on the board, asking how many people have received this letter. Then they can contact one another and pool information. Just a thought. This has been a long, twisting ordeal for all of us, filled with many unexpected bumps along the way. I hope this is a small one and my best wishes and prayers are with you. Link to comment

Eric&Yuhui
great, now when i wanna contact Director Lisa Piascik her machine said she's out of the office for 3 weeks. just my luck Lisa Piasick, as far as I am concerned, is the queen of the cut-and-paste answers taken from State's infamous "press releases " .. I would concentrate on either Kathryn Cabral VO/P/I office or one of her officer if I were you. Link to comment
AngryTexan
Reading SBS's post has quite literally brought tears to my eyes. The cruelty of some people simply knows no bounds - absolutely none. To throw out that kind of information, without ANY explanation as to why the hold has been placed, or how long it will be there, shows a level of insensitivity to the suffering of others that is truly difficult to fathom. It is disgusting beyond words. Link to comment
