Tourist Visa Myth Dispelled

Recommended Posts

Thanks Richard

Thank you for confirming the tourist visa problem for me. China

has a fear of Chinese people leaving China. My wife showed to me

the armed guard posts on the hill top overlooking the Hong kong

border. Those guards are to keep people out of Shenzhen. At

the border there are guards to keep people in Shenzhen. Then a

no man's land that separates Hong Kong from the mainland.

After that is the Hong Kong border to keep people out of Hong

Kong.

When my wife and I got married in Shanghai earlier this year we wanted her to come to the US for a quick visit because my company was going to relocate me to China temporarily. When she went into the interview, they said that we provided lots of evidence to support that she would return to China, but they still rejected us. They said that the proper way for a wife of a US Citizen to visit the US temporarily is to get the K-3 visa,, they felt that going through a 6 month process wasn't so long. I wasn't happy, but what are you going to do. Luckily we did get the K-3 visa with in 5 months actually, so it wasn't so bad.
