She would like to stay with us for 6 months, ( longer if possible). The 6-month period is necessary for us to have a happy family reunion. First of all, my mother and I have not seen each other for 2 years. I miss her very much and so does she. The 6-month visiting would be a good time for us to enjoy family life together again. Second, it is a very demanding trip for my mother to travel from China to the United States. The flight itself lasts for more than 16 hours and it is impossible for her eat and sleep well on the plane. She is in her late fifties and not willing to make the trip again in the near future. Third, since this is also a great opportunity for my mother to visit this country. Especially there are a lot of American holidays coming in the next half year, such as Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. I plan to celebrate these holidays with her and show her around as much as I can. Six months will be fine, but longer if possible, we change her flight arrangements if she may have a longer stay, currently we have round trip tickets for her for six month stay. We very appreciate your consideration. Have a great Day! Sincerely, Ella ( Daughter) Tine ( Son-in- Law) 4.Cover LetterTine XXX. & Ella. skibum
It should be noted that Ella has brother in Shanghai. I think that is the most important element in getting the visa. Link to comment
Dynasty
I have a few questions on this if y'all don't mind. Why is a I-134 needed? I can't find anywhere stating this requirement, other than word of mouth. When is a I-134 needed? Why must we state in the invitation letters that we will pay for all expences? (Her parents may take offence, i.e. implying they can't pay for anything themselves). Since my wife is still in AOS limbo, does not having the green card have any bearing? (She does have EAD, AP, SSN and a DL). FYI, Applying thru Shanghai Embassy. thanks Link to comment
Trigg
The I-134 is not a requirement. However, if you are going to tell them that you can and will accept financial resonsibility--what a better way to prove it than the same way they have you prove financial responsibility for your SO!!!!!!!! Tine's letter is merely an example - it is not even required. They look at expenses, and whether the invitee's have sufficient ties to the homeland to ensure their return. Have them bring everything in Tine's checklist above. I believe that the green card is necessary before she can invite her relatives to come to visit. I'm sure someone will correct if that isn't right. The better prepared they are when they interview, the more likely it is to be approved. Link to comment
Tine & Ella
Randy, I don't think green card it is necessary but may help. Tine Link to comment
