We where planing to go home next year (2021) for hong's mothers 80th birthday At this point? no green card and passport. Not looking good.
  2. My wife's passport will expire next month and there is no information regarding mobile passport renewal on the website of the Consulate of jurisdiction (San Francisco).

    Passports

HI all, We just got back to the USA. My wife washing clothes washed my passport and her passport. It's still viewable but you know how it looks after it is washed. Do I need to redo everything? Thanks, Vinny
  5. I have a few questions on this, us the current price still 55.00 plus the 5.00 service fee, and do they take the photos at the consulate, last time they did not like the ones we had and they sent us to a photo place as they did not do the photos there at the time but have read that people have had them taken there? Thanks in advance..
  6. My wife's Chinese Passport will be expiring and Houston is the consulate that Florida folks use. We will make a trip to Houston if we have to but I've seen that the consulate has gone to Miami in the past to do an "outreach" type of thing. Anybody know if there's one coming up? So far we haven't been able to reach the Houston Consulate by phone. Thanks, Richard
  7. My Chinese wife's passport has expired. We live in Atlanta and she seems to think we have to travel to Houston to fix this. Is that correct? Surely there is an easier answer.
  8. I tried to read the Chinese Embassy site and the Los Angeles Consulate site, but I could find no information regarding this issue so maybe you all can help. My hubby needs to renew his Chinese passport next year. I know that we are supposed to apply in Los Angeles for his new passport, but my hubby was told by his other Chinese friends that the Consul (or other authorized person) makes a trip to Honolulu about twice a year to handle these renewals within the state. Now, I may not have the most perfect Chinese, but I did not see anything about this on the Chinese Embassy/Consulate website. Supposedly they put it in the newspaper a month or so before they come to Hawaii. Has anyone heard of this? I don't mind making the trip to Los Angeles because we have a lot of family there and there will be a family reunion in Vegas so we can hitch a ride to Vegas after we are done with the passport stuff, but hubby would like to save the trip, or at least have time to spend in Los Angeles doing something "better" than passport renewal. Any of the 808 state people know anything about this? Have others heard of this happening? I don't want to doubt what hubby said, but we need to start planning our action plan here! Thanks as always for all your help!
  9. Has anyone done the Chinese passport renewal at Houston Consulate? Impossible to get any up to date and accurate information regarding what documents are needed and other essential details. I even saw on the Internet that minors are not required to apply in person. Is this true? How many days would we nneed to be in Houston? Would appreciate any feedback regarding this topic. Many thanks, Ken
  10. Well it's that time for my wife (Zhenghong) To get her passport renewed. Her passport will expire this year 7/21/2011 Though we do not plan to go home (China) until late this year if not early next year. We still need to get this taken care of We live in Ohio and NY is the place we need to go to get this taken care of. Just wondering if anyone has been through the NY Chinese consulate process of getting your wife's passport renewed? If so what was needed and what was your experience there? I have (Tried) to read the NY consulate web site and it is a bit inconclusive about what is needed. Any help and or advice would be appreciated. Mike. On a side note: Dan, The Man! We talked a little about this subject last week. Any input?
  11. Hi, It's been awhile since we've been on this wonderful site and you folks have always given us great advise and now I need some more. My wifes passport will expires in May and I need to know what we need to do to renew it. We live in Montana and we need to know if we can renew by mail or have to go to the consulate? Also, any other help would be greatly appreciated. Auggie & Lancy
  12. Has anyone been to the Chinese Embassy in DC for Passport Renewal recently? (in the last 6 months or so) My wife is under the impression that some of the procedures may have changed. There is little information on their (Chinese embassy) website, and I was hoping for a recent first hand account. We need to go before the middle of March. Thanks, Hank
  13. How long before the expiration date of current chinese passport does it need to be renewed. Also, her name has changed,so are there going to be any issues?
  14. My jurisdiction is in WA, but I live in VT now. My question is that whether passport renewal is limited to my green card jurisdiction? I can go to New York Chinese embassy if the answer is no, otherwise it will be more complicated because Chinese embassy requires citizen's presence for renewing or getting passport in the US. There is no way for me to fly back to SF now. Anybody knows? Thanks Joanna
  15. I'm not mensa, but I didn't ride the small bus either. Anybody done this in Chi-town recently? I couldn't get any info on the consulate website about it, they were more geared to getting visas for China. We've got a few months till the old one expires and no trip planned soon, but I'd like to stay on top of it.
  16. Hello, I tried looking on the consulates webpage, and they have nothing, My wife needs to renew her passport and the final word seems to be that she must go to the consulate. My questions (for anyone familiar with the LA consulate) are: 1) do they mail back the passport if we provide a self addressed stamped envelope? Getting her there for one day is already going to be a huge inconvenience. If not, can anyone pick up the passport from the consulate? 2) where can she get the passport photos (I read cannot be CVS or walgreens)? 3) What is required for her to have her married name on the passport? 4) What forms are required to get the passport? Thanks in advance -Sy
  17. Hi All, I've been on this forum a long time. I religiously monitor all topics even though I only post when I think I might help someone. It is a great forum for help and information. I need some information on Chinese passport renewal for my step-daughter. I searched the net and all information refers to an expired passport. My daughters passport expires in May. We would like to renew it in March. My question is, is it possible to renew the passport before it is expired? I've received no return calls from the Consulate in SF. Thanks for any info.
  18. Has anyone gone to the Chinese Consulate in NYC to renew a Chinese passport? I'm curious to know if they have a same day service or a return by mail service. Also, how do they handle the passport photos? My wife told me that the web site states that drop off and pickup must be done in person, and that the passport will ready in five days. That's not realistic for us. We are probably going to travel to NYC over the summer, so any insights on this would be helpful. Thanks!
  19. If a Chinese Passport needs to be renewed here in the US. Is it accurate that you must appear in person at the State's respectively assigned Embassy? ......which appears to be Washington DC for my State of Idaho. It is difficult for me to imagine they make people travel such long distances to do this!
  20. Here are a few pointers for those of you who's Chinese spouse's passports are expiring. New Chinese laws that went into effect in January have eliminated simply extending the passport. You must go to the consulate in person to renew your passport unless you are over 65, a minor or have a disability that prohibits you from making the trip. The fee is 60 dollars unless you need the name changed to a married name then it is 70 dollars. Your spouse will need the following A photo copy of the front and back of the green card. a photo copy of the information page showing the visa he or she came in on. A photo copy of the USC spouse's passport. A filled out form from the consulate webpage an H-2 or H-1. I'm not exactly sure. Get to the consulate a little before 9 AM to avoid long lines. It is best if you both go because she will need to go through one line to get her passport photo taken while you wait in the other line to submit the forms. That way she won't have to go to the back of the line. They can sell you a prepaid priority mail envelope or you can take your own to have the passport sent to your home in.
