  1. Hello, A couple of weeks ago I got the I-797 NOA saying my K-1 application has been forwarded to the NVC in New Hampshire. I called the NVC and received the GUZ #, invoice #, and beneficiary #. From my research, I can start doing I-134 Affidavit of Support -- is there anything else I need to fill out? Seems like my work is pretty much done here in the USA? For my fiancee in China (never married before with no kids), the tasks she needs to complete are: Completed Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application.A passport valid for travel to the United StatesDivorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor Medical examinationEvidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)Two (2) 2x2 photographs.Did I miss anything? And what's this converting GUZ # to GZO?? Thanks for your time
  2. Hi all, I'd like to get a picture of recent processing times so if you just received your P3, please help me by sharing your time line with me. Here is my timeline: Noa 2 -- 11/21 thru text Noa 2 -- Hardcopy -- 11/26 NVC receives file and assigns case number-- 1/3/2019 CEAC tracker says "Ready" What does "Ready" mean? How much time is there from "Ready" to Guangzhou embassy actually receiving our file? Does it go from "Ready" to "Administrative Processing" to "Sent"? (This is where I am confused) And what is the wait time from then till I receive P3 on hand? Is there a way I can track when the file will get to the GZ embassy? What's the wait time usually, for GZ to send out P3? I am trying to set a wedding date but I won't do that unless I've received P3. If possible, can someone give me a run-down of wait times from P3 --> P4 --> Interview --> visa on hand? VJ is not supremely helpful in the post NOA, and respective embassy-followup matters. I am glad I have this place to ask for help! Much thanks in advance, Sam + Olive
  3. A bit of conflicting info here so want to be 100% sure I follow the correct process The email I received asked me to complete the DS-260 online and submit: copy of personal information page of passport and 2 photographs. It did not mention anything else (besides the cover letter when submitting the documents) and states "Do NOT submit other documents to the Consulate at this time, as they will be destroyed." However, when I log into the website to complete the DS-260 it states "After submitting the DS-260, provide all supporting documentation (as listed on the Documents The Applicant Must Submit web page) for each applicant to your Consulate or U.S. Embassy.". Following the link there is a list of documents including the above and adding birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certifcate, etc. My question is, do we follow the email strictly as that is specific to our case and the website is more generic? All of the additional items listed we had already submitted with the I-130 with the exception of the police certificate. If we follow the email, should we include this one or just bring to the interview? I'm of the opinion we just follow the email until we hear otherwise but don't want to take any chances here.
  4. OK, we filled out the CGI Stanley form, got a UID number and submitted the documents. Wow, I am impressed at the speed. Randy is right, they get down to business. The visa was issued. Bingning got a call / email /notification they don not know where to send documents. Ok. Looks like I forgot to include case number and did not fill out type of delivery and delivery address. .The passport is being held at the consulate. This is verified by the CGI Stanley website. Does just completing the form and filling out where to deliver complete the process? Do we need to call someone to help expedite this process? Is the premium service worth the extra cost? Pickup at a location is already paid, correct?
  5. Dear all, This may be a dumb question: Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S.with you? I plan to move back to America but I should answer no, correct? Since I'm already a US citizen. Thanks in advance. Julian
  6. It looks like we're getting closer on the paperwork for Mei's siblings to come to the states. USCIS is telling us that there needs to be a form; DS260 filled out and submitted online. I've been trying to get to a point where I can at least look at this darn form so that we can prepare and make sure the info they ask for is at hand when we're ready to do this. Any ideas?
  7. hi. i submitted the supporting documents to the NVC. They stated that "The birth certificate we received is from the incorrect issuing authority" My wife went to her home town of Herjian to get the copy of her birth certificate. I believe she went to the police station. Where is she to go to get her birth certificate? thank you in advance for your assistance.
  8. After I submitted the last email which include everything they required, and paid $325 for ds-260 form, I found out the cover sheet had been changed. I wonder if I have to send the documents with new cover sheet again ?
  9. Background: Filed I-130 DCF Beijing, Submitted DS-260 online I remember reading somewhere that you need to write a specific number on the top right of the Citic drop-off cover letter but "dc-260 cover letter number" is returning squat from Google. Is it the case number that we need to put there? ("GUZ########") And should we put it directly above the CGI graphic?
  10. Immigrant Visa Case Number: GUZ Case Creation Date: 25-Nov-2014 Status Updated Date: 16-Dec-2014 Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html We got our first letter of acceptance on October 1, 2014 Then got a RFE on October 27, 2014 We then got our approval on November 12, 2014 NVC dates are above for reference to others. My question is my beneficiary will get a packet sent to her as before? Been awhile since did this....................
  11. We got NVC welcome letter, and there is a document cover sheet in it. I wonder what documents we need to prepare , I know I can follow the instruction to do it step by step, just want to know it advance. The case is FB2, it's being proceeding. Thanks !
  12. Dear CFL, thanks for the responses on my previous posts. Got one more question, hope someone can provide me some advices. I lived in Colorado from Aug 2000 - Oct 2002 on F1 (Student) visa. Do I need a police certificate for that period of time? If so, where should I send my request to? And any idea how long it might take for me to get the certificate back? Thank you!
  13. hi, after paying the fees. i am submitting supporting documents. pictures and proof of our relationship was turned in, along with our marriage certificate and our divorce papers. am i to resubmit these papers at this time? can i submit pictures from recent time together and / or conversations since i turned in the petition?
  14. The new and non-intuitive ustraveldocs website was intended to help visa petitioners and beneficiaries with the immigration process, but in my opinion it's created a whole new set of problems. These problems are created by a few factors, with the most dominant being a lack of clear instruction on how to use the site. Typically, a good website will have step by step instructions that include examples of how to complete a form and provide all the various senarios. That website however doesn't have diddly squat in that regard, and what's there is misleading. This is a major issue as providing incorrect information or unintentionally omitting it can cause serious problems and delays. Case in point, the entry for K1 and K2. Once you're lucky enough to navigate to the K visa entry area, it's quite confusing that K1 and K2 have separate radio buttons on the initial screens. However, if you select K1 and make your way to step 6, you are provided the option of adding a dependent child. I did that and all looked well. But, then what's the K2 radio button for? Why is only one $240 USD fee shown when both K1 and K2 will receive visas? So, I tried logging in and selecting K2 and entering that information. Then, saved it. However, after logging back in I noticed that the K1 entry information had been overwritten. http://i59.tinypic.com/2d8409k.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/359x1xt.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/e6tvmg.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/b6zl0h.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/23shzes.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/2ex9dtd.jpg
  15. The waiting period during the time the NVC releases paperwork to Guangzhou has always been an obscure gray area. During the past year the methodology for processing Fiance Visas (K1 and K2) has undergone several changes. The change with the biggest impact includes the introduction of the ustraveldocs website. This website was intended to reduce hard-copy paperwork and allow for online processing. But, the intention has missed the mark by embellishing the pre-existing "limbo" period. The best available information from the US government is obscure, but a few warnings do appear on the ustraveldocs website that suggest the K1 applicant do nothing until they are contacted via receipt of P3 paperwork. When does that happen? What if anything should a couple do during this period? The best instruction I've been able to gleen is to avoid the rumor mills of mis-information. We received the following response from the US Consulate in Guangzhou after three attempts sending inquiries via their website. The first two responses contained statements that they were unable to verify identify despite the fact we entered the very information they requested again on the form page. The first two replies indicated that unless several questions were answered correctly, and the sender of the inquiry submit to removal of unwanted body parts and / or a pint or two of fresh human blood. Quote I'm just blowing off steam here, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm not one to accept status quo as the new norm.
  16. It's my understanding that EMS delivers P3 paperwork to K1 visa applicants in China. I'm a little confused about this relationship as EMS has a long standing policy that requires the recipient telephone number at the address location. They will not deliver without the telephone number. So, here's my quandary. Obviously the US Consulate in Guangzhou delivers P3 paperwork all the time. However, for K1 visa, the applicant does not provide a telephone number until after they receive the P3. Now, some K1 people are aware they can go to UStraveldocs and create an account before they receive the P3; and also complete the DS160. But, surely not everyone does this. Does anyone know how EMS can associate a telephone number to the K1 applicant in China?
  17. I just read this! We are not DCF but went from NVC and all cause when we filed last June we were not residing in China. Now we are back. 18. Today nvc ceac shows our case is ready. The protocol has changed a lot so need help on how things will go now. We've completed the I-160 online for both k1 and k2, and printed/saved the confirmation. I am finishing up the financials to send. She has ordered police reports for herself and daughter. So, do we just wait for paperwork in mail or can she do the medical now and pay fees? I haven't been able to find a step by step procedure for GZ K1, so thanks in advance for you help
  19. hi, we are doing a K1 visa, and my fiancee's interview is scheduled for march 25th. we are gathering all the necessary documents right now and I see this IV pre-interview document submission cover letter pdf on the ustraveldocs website. What's the purpose of this document? the k1 instructions say to bring all the documents to the interview. Can we actually mail in some documents before the interview to be part of her profile? I'm thinking of sending in more evidence for a bona-fide relationship to make a stronger case and hopefully guarantee an approval even before the interview. thanks
  20. Hi all, this is my first post in any forum and the reason why I am posting is because I can't find anyone who has had the same problem elsewhere. I hope someone can help. I am trying to help my girlfriend get a visa to visit me and we have come across a problem which is birth certificate related. She can't get one. She was adopted from around two months and her adopted mother found her roadside. Because of that, there is no way of knowing who her biological parents are. She went to the place mentioned in other topics with the hukou and adoption papers and was told that if she doesn't know her birth parents, she can't get a birth certificate replacement. What can we do?
  21. So we heard from GUZ today with the case number directing us (actually, directing Chinese National Husband) to go online and complete the DS-260 at https://ceac.state.gov/IV I thought I would get it started for CNH, but something weird is happening. When I log in to the site above, first I get a screen that says: "The next step in the immigration process is for each applicant to complete online form DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application. The DS-260 is designed to collect information that is necessary to adjudicate your immigrant visa application. The DS-260 form may be partially completed, saved online, and finished later, or may be completed all in one session. Before starting the form, applicants should gather the 'Documents The Applicant Must Submit' because they are needed to complete the DS-260 form. To begin the DS-260, please click on the Start link below. Please note that the DS-260 can only be completed after the applicant's Immigrant Visa Fee has been paid." Ok, sounds good. But how do I pay the fee? Not sure. So I go ahead and click the "Start" link, as instructed. Then I get a screen that looks like this: Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (DS-260) Application List for IV Case GUZ...(his case number) The NVC has received notification that the applicant will join the principal applicant at a later date. Given Name Surname Relationship Fee Status CNH's first and family name PRINCIPAL NOT APPLICABLE NOT AVAILABLE From this is screen, there is no way to move forward with the application that I can see... just a "Cancel" button at the bottom of the screen! I'm so confused. My spouse IS the principal applicant and there are no other family member, kids, etc. attached to this application. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what this might mean? Thanks in advance, D
  22. I know it will take some time to process and get the NOA or NOA2 or whatever its called. Anyway, in the meantime what should I be doing?
  23. Hi all, FF (still FF, not FH yet) from China. We got notice our 129-F was approved at CSC on Oct 14th. Now we are looking ahead to the P3, which I would guess we'll receive in a couple of months. I downloaded donahso's wonderful P3 sample packet, and on the OS-169, it contains the following statement: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY Third: As soon as you have obtained all of the documents that apply to your case, carefully read the statement at the bottom of this form, sign and date it, and send the form to the consular office processing your case, you will not be scheduled for an appointment until you sign and return this checklist. The documents they are referring to include the I-134, the Birth Certificate, and the Police Certificate. Question #1 is: when people say "sent P3 to Guangzhou" in their signatures, are you giving the time you return the DS-230 part 1, or the time you send in the OS-169, or both? Question #2 is: it seems like it usually takes 4 & 1/2 months to get an interview from the time Guangzhou receives "the P3." Does the clock start ticking after they receive the DS-230? Or does it not start ticking until they have received both the DS-230 and the signed OS-169? Some people here have said that you don't have to get police and birth certificates until around P4 time, but... according to what it says on the OS-169, it doesn't seem like it should be possible to get a P4 until you have gotten the certificates and sent them the OS-169. The reason I ask these questions is, Fiona is still nervous about asking her work unit for the certificates. She'd like to wait until she passes her probationary period in March, and establishes better relationships with everyone at work. We're thinking we might get the P3 in January. If she waits two months to send in a signed OS-169, will that delay us a couple of months? Incidentally, we still have a couple of days to decide whether or not to abandon the I-129F and get married. These issue are related. Every time she thinks about going into work and asking for certificates, she thinks she would like to be married first. I hate to abandon an APPROVED I-129F (!) but I understand her point of view. If she has to wait a couple of months to feel "safe" enough to get the certificates from her work unit, maybe there is no advantage in continuing with the I-129F anyway. I'll be in Beijing until Saturday, so any and all opinions would be gratefully received. - FF ps. We looked on 001.com.cn to try to find a way to get the certificates without going through Fiona's work unit at the Ministry of Finance. It doesn't look good. The person at 001 in a position closest to Fiona's used forgeries! We don't want to do that.
