  1. Hey all. [important bit] I was at ACH. I asked the lady to confirm that I did not need to prove residence in the USA for a K1. She did not confirm. She says I need to prove residence, but I thought that was only for CR1? Can anyone confirm this (with a link to an official government document) ? [/important bit] Anyway the expirience was like this: I arrived about 1:35. I told the officer I was there for American Citizen's Hour. He waved me to the right. After going through security I found a line with more than 30 other people standing or sitting. I got to the back of the line. About 20 more people come in and around 2:00 they started handing out numbers. I went and got a number and there was also a form to fill out with case number, contact info and questions. So I wrote down my questions. Sometime vaguely around 2:30 they started calling numbers. There was a red leaderboard where the numbers appeard sometimes. I almost missed my number because i was chatting with someone and it did not appear on the leaderboard. The do not call the numbers in numerical order, though I think there is some sort of system? I went to the window. The VO was friendly and nice, but not incredibly willing to commit to any specific answer. My questions were thus: (as I remember ever so vaguely) 1. We don't need to prove residence for a K1, do I? A. Yes you do. OH? What sort of documents do we need? What documents do you have? Well, I have my bank records and a job offer in the USA (Can't remember what she said, but I got the impression the job letter was useless) Did you file your taxes? Yes. Did you put your US address or China address. I think I put mu China address. Oh. (We chat for a bit about taxes) 2. Do I need to get a notarized copy of my tax returns and passport? (noncommittal answer, leaning toward the negative) but it wouldn't hurt to have it done. (note: later I went to get my tax returns notarized at ACS and the lady says "how am I supposed to notarize this?" or something like that? So I just had the I-134 notarized.) 3. Which of my father's (co-sponser) financial documents will the VO want to see? (my father gets most of his money through real estate investments, so he had gave me a five-inch folder of financial evidence) Answer: For sure want: I-134 3 years of tax statements Letter concerning SO's relationship to him Probably want: W2s Probably no (but bring it anyway): Annual income letter from employer Detailed discloser of notes receivable Letters from bank officers regarding accounts Letters of recommendation Personal holdings (net worth) Titles to properties Broker's price opinion Articles of incorporation for his 2 companies 4. We don't have any phone records. Is that a problem? (I explain our situation) not a problem. (a committed answer. cool!) 5. We don't remember the exact date of our 2nd meeting. problem? (much longer explanation, explaining why I have no plan ticket, visa, or passport stamp that shows this information) well, if she explains everything just as you explained to me then that should not be a problem. The end?
  2. Hey all...me again I see that there is a Form I-864A too??!! What the heck is that for? Ok...I know what it is (I actually CAN read ), but I am not sure if I will need to use it. Basically, my dad AND stepmom are going to be joint sponsors. Does my dad fill out the I-864 since he is the primary joint sponsor, and my stepmom use the I-864A because she is a household member? Or....do they both use the I-864 forms? I mean...I realize that I am a natural blonde, but I am a fairly intelligent person and.....some of this stuff is SO CONFUSING!! It makes me kind of scared because I know that where I am in the process now is easy compared to what we will have to go through later.
  3. Have a thorough folder with financials about me (I-134, Employer Letter, Pay Stubs, Bank Letter, Stocks/Bonds, Transcripts, 1040's, W-2) (it's really not that big or heavy, I promise!!) and I wanted to include a couple of paid invoices and check stubs ($10,000 each) from clients (recently closed, home-based business) that were received in March and May. They were deposited into a "newly-opened" savings account in May. The Bank letter shows savings account "opened in May" with these deposits. Being paranoid that this may look funny, what are your thoughts about me adding to the already existing cover page of I-134, Employer Letter/Pay Stubs, and Bank Letter/Stocks and Bonds, something to the effect of "Recent Deposits & Check Stubs" to "justify" this recently acquired money? I am trying to anticipate ANYTHING from slowing my sweet SO and I from being together! Am I being too paranoid? Can't wait to hear your comments!! (as always : )
  4. I have read somewhere on here that three years of income tax return copies are needed for the interview. Will I be okay if I just have 2005 tax return copies? I also have found my 2004 w-2s that I can submit. I will also have 12 months of bank statements, letter from bank, retirement savings summary and employment letter. Will this suffice to meet burden of sponsorship? Should I include copy of mortgage/deed information on our house? Thanks!
  5. Has anyone here ever used a co sponsor? As a student my income falls below poverty. My parents filled out a notorized 864 and included several documents. Should that be ok?
  6. It is my understanding that if the petitioner does not have the financial resources to support the visa applicant, the petitioner may enlist family members to produce a second, or even a third I-134 in support of the foreign applicant. With that, two quickies: 1) Is there any procedure for this action? Or does the joint sponsor, like the petitioner, simply send the I-134 and supporting documents to the foreign applicant, later to be brought to the interview in Guangzhou? 2) How does one prove the relationship between the petitioner and joint sponsor? Is such proof even necessary? Thanks! and Thanks for all of your help on this site!
  7. Hi, I am filling up the affidavit of support for my fiancee and her daughter (5 years old) and I am wondering if I do only one for my fiancee and mention the child's name in it as person that will come with or do I must fill 2 of them? thanks
  8. There seems to be some confusion about what evidence to bring to the interview with the I-134. 1) The I-134 itself requires an employment letter and a bank statement, but does not require last years taxes unless the petitioner is self employed. 2) Trumping this rule, is the GZ website, which asks for the I-134 and for the applicant to bring last years taxes (for every petitioner, self emp or not), but the website does NOT mention the employment letter or bank statment. 3) Furthermore, the OF-167 with P3 states to bring "Two or more of the following items", of which taxes are one of four possible items to bring. Which again implies that if you bring two items other than the taxes, then the taxes are not needed. Can you clarify exactly what evidence you wish to see at the interview with the I-134, and what is not necessary?
  9. My SO does not have the I-134 for her March 10 interview. Can a faxed copy work at the interview?
  10. Hi All, Insufficient income but have a job offer letter-- is this enough to act as the sole sponsor? The income indicated in the letter is sufficient to exceed 125% of the poverty line. Other details: The job starts in August and is based in Hong Kong. Any advice? Will the letter cut the snuff with GZ? Thanks! Stuart
  11. Ok as you all know my SO will be interviewing fairly soon (11/14/05). I have been told all I need to put down for financial proof is my salary (it is above the %125 and then some ) I heard it just makes it easier not to clutter up the i-134 form with info that you need not provide. this is true right? Also my SO has additional financial information of mine but it is not entered on the i-134 form. So if the VO asks that he needs to see more financial info she could show him a savings account statement and 401k statement....Could you consider this kitchen sink even though i dont have this additional information on the i-134 form?
  12. Yes where does a joint-sponsor put that info on the sheet?to show it is a joint-sponsor? thanks, Dan
  13. i have question on Question 10 of I-134. "That I have submitted visa petition(s) to the Burea of Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) on behalf of the following person(s). If none, state none." should i add my current visa petition? or just None?
