Hi all, could anyone tell how long it takes for our K1 paper file to be transfered from NVC to GZ consulate? and how long it takes for us to get P3 after NVC approve and send file to GZ? Thanks! Good luck to all!

Our K-1 was approved at an interview with the DOJ (Department of Justice) on July 20th and sent to NVC. I waited about a week and a half after the DOJ approval to call NVC. I asked the lady on the phone, who was very polite and helpful, if there was any problem with calling NVC to check the status. She said there was no problem with calling. The good news for us was when I called today on August 20th to check the status. I was informed our case was already forwarded to GZ on August 16th. Was told by an officer at DOJ it would require two months to clear NVC...so as you can imagine we were delighted to see the application move through NVC quickly. Good luck - and from what (little) I know I would not be concerned about calling for status. P.S. the three times I called I only had to wait about three minutes each time for someone to answer.

Thank you so much here. My boyfriend passed interview today. He was interviewed for two and half hours. In the first hour, the man did not smile, but later, he smiled so big, and very helpful. He knows our relationship is real and strong. He gave us approval and said my boyfriend is a very honest person. He believes we are serious. I cannot tell how happy we are today. We have been waiting soooo long, one year and four months, for approval. We know it is just the first step for us, we hope our case will move forward smoothly. God bless us! God bless you! We cannot tell how happy we are today. My boyfriend passed the interview and they approved our case. The man is so tough that he interviewed him for two and hald hours. Thank you for your concern. We will know why they want to interview him and the outcome as well next week after interview. We do not know the reason now. Yes, my boy friend is very devoted to me. He came to China every four or five months to see me to stay with me as longest as he could. We even thought that he moved to China if our application could not be approved. I think so. Maybe they want to make sure about our close relationship. We do not worry about it. But I still have something to ask. When my boyfriend came to China to meet me, we stayed together for almost three weeks. He wanted to buy a diamond ring for our engagement, but I did not want him to buy because I thought it was too expensive and I did not realize the engagement ring was important proof of our close relationship. But he met my parents, my family and my best friends, and had dinner within my family to show that we were engaged. Although we have lots of other proofs to show our close relationship, we do not know if the engagement ring receipt is the necessary proof. If they ask about it, what should we explain? And after they mail our file to GZ, does GZ contact my company to check if I am really working there? Because I moved to another city, I do not want to make our case delayed again due to my moving. I think I know my boyfriend so well that I trust him completely. We talk on the phone at regular basis, and chat on MSN every day except I have to be out of the city for business trip. I have the notice faxed by my boyfriend. It only says when and where he needs to go for our K-1 interview. We think that we will know what is going on at interview even though it is so strange now.

I did post here before with title "long painful wait" talking about our case. We feel strange too because it seems the US petitioner does not needed to be interviewed in the US. But the INS indeed transfered our file to my boyfriend's local office to notify him of interviewing him there. My boyfriend was not told why he has to be interviewed, but it is about our K-1 case. We are wondering what questions they will ask him, and if we need to change my address at the interview. He will go for interview next week.

I am sorry to make things confused. I am a Chinese woman living in China, and my boyfriend who is an American living in the US filed a fiancee visa petition for me. Hi everyone, I posted before about our long painful wait. My boy friend was notified of having an interview within 90 days after we had waited over one year for the approval letter. Now he got his interview appointment. We are so happy that we finally see some result although we have been waiting twice as long as most applicants do. Now we would like to know what questions they most likely ask? If they approve our case at interview, what is the next step? send our file to NVC to have name check as others? How long will we have to wait for me to have interview in Guangzhou since then? We have another thing to need your advice. I moved to another city after we filed our I-129F, we need to tell them that I moved? We think maybe it will take longer time in processing our case or make them confused if we change my address now. Is it better not to change my address if my old address in another city can get mail safely? Thank you so much for your help.
