  1. Yeah, this is like...err.... bank's error - does not happen that often Just have to hope they don't come up with some weird requests during the interview.
  2. Well, my wife got her AOS interview date in September, 5 months after filing AOS, not bad for San Jose office, in a county with 51% immigrants. But the notice also asked her to bring "Medical Exam Results". She had K1 medical less than a year ago, and we submitted her immunization form, part of I-693 with her AOS application. Why the hell they ask it again? sy
  3. Hmm, I sent it to both places anyway, one with certified mail. Well, we'll see what happens. Sometimes too much IS too much. Had it once already.
  4. On the Change of Address section of BCIS San Jose website, Customers may report a change of address for any other application submitted to this office by sending a letter to this office (see Where Are We, Mailing Address, above). Please include in the letter: · Your name as it appears in the application · Your 8 or 9 digit A-number · Your OLD and NEW address · Clearly mark your letter "ATTENTION: CHANGE OF ADDRESS" Or, instead of writing a letter, you may send a completed Form G-14, Information Form, to the San Jose Office (see Where Are We, Mailing Address, above). All applicants: Please read this important information on “How Do I Report a Change of Address to the BCIS?” ... Does it mean we should send Change of Address forms to both the Sub Office and national Change of Address Center?
  5. Eric, Only in your dreams would a BCIS office listen to our complains. Or else should we call it a "dream coming true"? sy
  6. Don’t we all wish we live in Wichita, KS Right, unless you know someone has gone through the same from the same office, it is a lotto… by the Bureau of Certified Impossible Service. sy
  7. Ying&Vin, My point was, it comes with the territory. Obviously, INS offices in different places practice their rules differently. So be careful with the one you are dealing with. sy
  8. They returned the whole thing, and I just have to remove that one $50 check and resend the whole package again. I know for a fact BCIS is infamous for rejecting applications for underpaying/overpaying fees, but this time they’ve gone too far. Obviously, this “grocer” is not very good at counting beans. sy
  9. Well, apparently our packet is TOO perfect; the San Jose BCIS rejected our AOS application. Reason: “Fingerprint fee ($50) IS NOT REQUIRED FOR K-1 FIANCEE”. So much for the Service part of BCIS, it’s so personal, even fees are different from different offices. My spin on this: Is Fiancé required to pay the fingerprint fee? sy
  10. More twist and turn. I heard if the K1 medical exam has passed its one-year valid period by the time of AOS interview, another has to be done. If this were true, most of our now wives would have to go through the same exam again, and that would be another example of the ignorance of the our immigration system. sy
  11. Jim, Try your local INS/BCIS web site. sy
  12. In the pursuit of perfection, a couple of more questions: Checks payable to INS, or BCIS? On I-864, it does not seem to require bank statement, as opposed to I-134. And, if assets or bank deposits is not used for the form, can we leave Part 4 blank? sy
  13. Ha, one day someone will churn out a perfect AOS package.
  14. Now, another question for the not-so-“free” advisor. When filing I-131 Advanced Parole, Part 3, how should we put down the “Date of intended departure”, and 7. Number of trips? The fact is, we don’t know yet. If we say one trip, do we have to apply for another AP if a 2nd is planned later? If we file more than 1 trip, how to put down the dates? sy
  15. When it comes to immigration issues, nothing is trivial, nor does it follow common sense. The INS doctor’s office I called would not take our word for chicken pox. They insist an antibody test must be done to prove she is immune. Now we have to make a THIRD trip to our doctor’s office to get it done. By the way, the MMR and varicella (chicken pox) blood tests can be done at the same time. The pain goes on. sy
  16. Eric, I am being picky here. A2/ CHECK #xxxx FOR $ 255 I-485 FEE A3/ CHECK #xxxx FOR $ 50 FINGERPRINTING FEE Are these and other fees the same for all BCIS offices for today? I heard cases overpaid packages rejected, because INS does not like being paid more. A5/ COPY OF TAX RETURNS FY 2000, 2001 AND 2002 WITH OATH OF AUTHENTICITY What kind of OATH OF AUTHENTICITY is needed, if FORM FC-029 is already attached. A11/ PRIOR DIVORCE CERTIFICATE Is it, the petitioner’s one, really needed? If so, are photocopies acceptable? Also, do the 3 packets, A B and C, go into the same envelope to BCIS? Registered mail, or personal delivery to BCIS office. The later probably does not produce a receipt, hence, no proof of delivery. Thanks. sy
  17. Right, I checked with two INS doctors's offices. Both said they would take other US doctor's official record, and file the SUPPLEMENTAL FORM TO I-693, for a fee. Sy
  18. Can anyone clarify which two shots are needed, and if the vaccination record for the two shots from a US doctor acceptable to the INS appointed doctor for filing to form I-693. Thanks. sy
  19. Your insurance doctor could give the shots for free, but INS doctors may charge a lot. I doubt an INS doctor would not accept another US doctor issued vaccination record, even if the I-693 has to be filled by an INS appointed doctor.
  20. Eric, I think I-864 is required. What I am not sure is whether the employer letter has a valid period. If not, I could just use my last one used for I-134. My employer must be pretty annoyed if I ask for it every 6 months. sy
  21. I heard there are three shots, two if she had chicken pox before. Still haven't found the information whether it has to be given by INS appointed doctor, or any health care facility. I hope the later is acceptable, since she will need to have her immunization record kept by her primary care physician anyway. sy
  22. After a 14 months wait, my honey finally flew home, on Air China. Perhaps due to the war and/or the consulate’s reluctance in visa approvals for visitor’s visas, there are very few passengers flying to the US. She told me there were perhaps only 50 on board a Boeing 747, making it the most comfortable flight in the economy cabin. And the POE was equally light on traffic. Hmm, the visa delay had made the last stop a bit faster, 30 minutes to be exact. sy
  23. PJ, This is a great service. Hope it will provide you and many people a new way to a new life. sy
  24. bob, There are three sections of lines at SFO – "new immigrants", "US citizen/permanent residents", and "visitors". Should K1 go through the “new immigrants" or the "visitors" line? sy
