  1. Hi All, We have been out of touch since Yin and Xindi got here. It has been fun. Yin and Xindi are in school for English. They are doing very well. There has been a dramatic improvement in the last two months. It is such a joy to watch them learn and to help them. We have been working decorating the house and getting all the things done I put off so I would have her input. It's great having someone to share all this with. She is so great. I very rarely see her with out a smile. She did get upset the other day. The cat got on the table and chewed thru the cord on her ear phones. She was upset that she wouldn't be able to listen to her English tapes. I quickly replaced them with a set I had bought and all was fine. We went for their AOS interview on July 2nd. The BCIS held true to there promise that they would expedite it. Xindi turns 21 this Wednesday. The lady we got was great. She and I talked about the difficulties with the process. She hardly even looked at the documentation we brought. Now nothing to do for two years except enjoy the ride. Life is Great! Jim, Yin and Xindi
  2. Does anyone know where I can get a DVD player, either online or local to play DVD's from China? Thanks, Jim
  3. We are in the same situation. My wifes son turns 21 on July 9th. The law states he must have his AOS before his 21st birthday. We applied two weeks ago. They assured me they expedite these all the time under these circumstances. To my knowledge there is no other way. I think the e-mail your friend received is correct. If he turns 21 before the visa is issued they won't let him come. Let me know if you have any other questions. Jim
  4. Calvin, Go to immigration challenges, second page, topic is vaccination supplement. All the info is there. My wife and her son got the shots and had the formed filled in and signed. When we filed in person the lady told us it was not necessary. However, she did keep everything. Better to be safe I suppose. Jim
  5. I have a coworker who is Russian and interested in information on visas. I don't have the G7 website anymore. Can some one post it here or pm it to me. Thanks, Jim
  6. We went yesterday to the Buffalo, NY office. They did finger prints and Yin and Xindi got their EAD cards. See my thread in general discussion, "updated progress" for further details. Jim
  7. Well, it's been a real whirlwind the last 12 days since Yin and Xindi got here. We've had two birthdays, a wedding, furniture shopping, a trip to BCIS and to Social Security. The BCIS trip went very well. All the papers were filed. I was told by the lady at BCIS that they have to get this processed by Xindi's birthday (which I already knew) and to call in 30 days if we haven't received an appointment letter. They were also fingerprinted and received their EAD cards good for one year. Social Security may take a little longer. however, they are not going to work right away.so it doesn't matter. Now to school on Friday and then our lives will settle in to more of a routine. I need to get back to work. It's been great, waking up every morning to her smiling face. She has found everything she needs for cooking and in fact won't let me cook. She did say she wants to learn to cook American. For right now I'm enjoying home cooked Chinese. Thanks, Eric for the list for BCIS. The marriage certificate, photos and I-94 and visa copies were not needed for the EAD. Also they required duplicate copies of everything for Xindi's I-485. The lady also told me the supplemental vaccinations form to form I-693 was not needed either. She did keep it though. I'm going to go crash on the couch. We were up at 5:30 this morning. Thanks all for your help. Jim, Yin and Xindi
  8. Do the forms get signed in English or Chinese? Jim
  9. Is there any place to get the forms for AOS in fillable format? How did those who already filed fill in the forms? Thanks, Jim
  10. Congratulations Wolfman. I know how you feel. Jim
  11. Yin and Xindi arrived in New York on Friday. I met them at the airport. It took an hour and a half from the time their plane landed till they walked through the door. We would have missed our connecting flight if not for some wonderful people at Jet Blue. All of that doesn't matter now. We are all together now. Thanks to every one for their help and support. As Wolfman said for those of you still waiting, hang in there and don't give up. It is more than worth it. Now on to the AOS. Best Wishes, Jim
  12. I'm sitting here at my desk at work reading the sport section when one of the guys tells me Kathryn Cabral from Washington D.C. is on the phone. She was going through some old files on her desk and wanted to let me know my fiance's visa was ready to be picked up. I informed her she already had and would be here tomorrow. She was so excited for us. Hmmm. I'm glad I just paid my taxes. Now maybe things will move smoother for the people yet to get their visas. On second thought, probably not. Jim
  13. I just hung up the phone with Yin. The last time I will talk with her across 7,000 miles. Yin and Xindi will leave today for Beijing at 3:40 pm and then board a plane to NYC at 1 pm on Friday. I'm sitting here remembering how this dream started. Dreaming of meeting that special woman. It was a little over a year ago when we met. It didn't take long for me to realize that my dream had come true. Then I dreamed of the day that we would be together in America. In less than two days that dream will also come true. I have come to realize the real power of our dreams. Dream big dreams and know that some day they will come true. Jim
  14. Congratulations to both of you. It truly is a great feeling isn't it?
