  1. WOW, that guy sure has alot of talent. Sounds like a band playing...
  2. It was 4 months before my wife got her SS Card. We went to the SS Office every few weeks, same Bull story, "it should be here soon". We ended up going to our Congressman's office. The local SS Office, and the main SS Office gave the Congressman's office a load of bull also, that it usually takes up to 6 months to issue a card. The Congressman's office called me and told me this load of bull on a thursday, and we got the card the next day, friday, in the mail. I stopped into the Congressman's office that day, and showed them the card, and stamped letter to show them how the SS Office had given them a load of false information(bull crap).......
  3. My wife studies, "Learn American English online. org", every night. She uses my old computer on that website, and her laptop on her Chinese translations website at the same time.
  4. It is very easy to get married in Chongqing. My girl and I took a 2 hour train ride from Chongqing to Chengdu to the Consulate to get a "Single/not married document". With in a few days we went to the Chongqing Register Office to get married. We did the K1, denied, and then went the CR1 petition.
  5. Congrats. I remember that feeling very well.............
  6. The month of August, and around Christmas/New Years is usually the most expensive. My wife passed her Visa Interview May 4 but did not get the Visa for 6 weeks, and we got her ticket for July. From the price in May of about $850 went to $1350 in July. I check FlyChina.Com from time to time......
  7. Those "instructions" are just guidelines for the Interview Officer, that in the real world the Officer takes very little interest in. Having very much in assets, money, houses, etc. has little weight with the Interview Officer. That is just the way it is. The Officer is interested in seeing Tax Transcripts for 3 years on income "well over" the minimum.
  8. I had Directv for several years. I would "suspend" service from April to November each year. From November to April, with 150 channels, I always ended watching the Weather Channel. $60 a month to watch the Weather Channel, terminated..... Now, my wife is on her laptop, watching China programs, or "learnamericanenglishonline.org", and I get to spend more time working on my 38 Plymouth.... I sure miss the Weather Channel.......
  9. Good luck... Xiaomin has been driving for about 4 months now, and is doing pretty good [after the $500 deductible for when she took out the carport pole!] but there were several times [after the cussing, honks, and fingers from the drivers that she cut off] that we were both going to give up and accept the fact that she just wasn't going to get it enough to be safe. She failed her driver's test twice and we were going to give up if she failed it for her last attempt [which I think they make you give up] but then something "clicked" and my heart doesn't go into dreadsville every time she pulls out of the driveway any more... Our driveway is very dangerous when pulling out onto to highway. To the left about 200 ft is a blind spot. We always go to the right, but it is still dangerous. The Virginia written driving test is very difficult. The test is very "tricky". My friend failed the written test, for motor cycles, 2 times. I have ridden cyles over 40 years, and I would probably fail too. I do not agree with many of the answers on the test.
  10. Bu-bu-Bubba, you may have to drive up cheer to the Altooner SS office. They may be overweight cornfed kuntry wimmins there, but they gits stuff done fer ya. What are they tellin' you at the office?...."Sir, her card is in the mail" Good luck cuzin' tsap seui The guy at the SS Office says we should get the card in another week, (yeah right). Maybe after we dig up some more taters. It seems one government office is like any other government office, they only know what the computer says, or does not say.
  11. My wife arrived in the USA in July, got the green card in a couple of weeks. We went to the Social Security Office last of August to apply for the SS card. We went to the Social Security Office again the last of September, still no card.
  12. Congrats Hui.. My wife has not passed the riding mower test yet. She went straight into the 6 foot high weeds, got stuck, and later into the neighbor's yard where there are dog leash cables, got stuck. .
  13. Hey Tsap, Glad to hear all of you are doing good. I took everything out of the 3rd bedroom, and made it into an office type room. I set up a computer router so as my wife can do her thing on her laptop, and I can look for old car junk on my computer. She can watch China TV on her laptop, same as she did in China. My wife does not miss Chongqing too much right now, with it over 100 degree there everyday.
  14. I tried out a new Honda CRV, which was easy to get in and out of, but has very little power. Around here in Virginia getting on an Interstate quick is a must with the short on ramps. I recently rented a Subaru Outback for a 900 mile trip. This has been the best vehicle I have ever taken on a trip. Both my Sisters had not one negative word for the Sub. They complain about any little thing, but not on the Sub.
  15. Hey Tsap, Glad to see you and the Lil' Rabbit will be on this side of the planet. My wife has been here about 3 weeks now. She got her green card a few days ago.
