  1. When my wife came to the USA we did not bring her son. We are now wanting to bring her son. Do any of you have any experience with this?
  2. Also the cold/hot thing drives me crazy. After we first got married, and would have sex I would jump in the shower to clean up. She would say "What are you doing?!" You can't have a shower after sex, the water will make you cold, and sex and cold cannot mix. Now I look back at my answer and think it wasn't too smart. But I responded with I am 40 years old has sex many times followed by a shower and I am still alive and healthy.
  3. We don't have any four wheelers but my wife loves to shoot. Her favorite is my 9mm, but she also likes to shoot my 45 and my AK-47. But the truth is, she is a bad shot. Hopefully this will change over time.
  4. I just adore my wife! She is the sweetest, cutest girl, and I love her to death! And man! is she one hot firecracker if you know what I mean. We have now been together almost 3 years, and I can say that when we are "together" it is as romantic, and hot as the first time. It is almost like having a hot love affair on the side except it is with my wife. Every day is fresh and new! I can't wait to grow old together. One word of advice for newly weds... I used to live in China and so I have some understanding of who Chinese culture is different than here in the states. However one of the best things to every happen to our relationship is to start attending a Chinese Church here in the states. Chinese churches are filled with wise, smart, older Chinese women who have been here for decades. They honestly have given my wife words of wisdom that have turned her into twice the woman she was in China. And who knows they may have saved our relationship through the first two months in the states. There are just some cultural things that are different, and to have an older woman reassure my wife what was happening was normal. What a true blessing! Random thought from an old guy in love ... life is good! p.s. I do think it would be good to have a mens only section.
  5. I hate to hear those stories... where you get pink and then it sits in limbo. You can read many cases of that, in some cases they have to wait in GZ for weeks! Unfortunately we have seen the outcome vary dramatically, to weeks, to months, to even getting the passport back in the mail with the visa affixed and then crossed out!! In most cases it seems it clears up in about 3 weeks and the visa does come through eventually... We now have visa in hand, and leave next week. My wife is so scared of living in the USA. I am trying to avoid any conflicts this week because I know she is already stressed.
  6. No they didn't want the I-864! I was shocked and worried, but the Yangs said that is often the case. No my wife had some man in his mid 30's. However my wife said a really fat woman handed almost everyone a white slip. There was one black man from Africa. Every time the big woman would call the his name, she would tell him to turn around to go sit down. It sounds like she didn't like the black man.
  7. We got the pink slip. they asked 4 questions 1) When did you meet 2) when did you marry 3) where does your husband work 4) what was it like living together while he was still married? (snicker snicker) Great! off to the USA! They didn't want a single piece of paper. They quickly looked my 2009 1040, and took the police record book. They didn't want the financial support, the 230 info sheet, the marriage white book, or the birth certificate white book. Wow! shocked!
  8. $130 a night, I hope you mean 130 RMB a night. Yep! I am the cheapest laowai in china!
  9. I am at the Yang's! We have gone through all of the papers! and will be up at dawn tomorrow to wait in line! Rodger & Christina Oh and for those who don't mind living a little chinese you can rent a single room with a shared bathroom for $130 per night.
  10. Keep us posted! I have a million questions. Can I call? I am in Beijing.
  12. Is this the Yang's? before I found a post with his contact information. Now I can't find it. rw
  13. I am guessing after the interview she is going to quit her job, right? Lie, tell them she needs surgory that day.
  14. My two cents ... Moving to another country is by definition disruptive. I would suggest she come back a day early.
  15. We are July 15th!!!! Where should I stay in gz?
  16. What happens if my invitation letter gets lost in the mail? It is just shocking in the 21st century we can not go to the web sight to check on the status of our application. Also I was looking at the consolate website and saw something like ... additional email and questions may delay you inquiry. What does this mean? So if something gets lost in the mail I have no way of knowing? Rodger
  17. Yup Asiana flies to CAN. I have flown them a couple of times and absolutely love them. Every Chinese airline is better than united!!! Btw I buy all of my domestic tickets at e long.com.
  18. I tend to go back and forth between the USA and China a lot. Many times I have had to move personal belonging between the two. Usually I reserve space in my bags for very important items such as computers and such. This means many things need to be shipped. I have found that the chinese post office will ship things to the USA very cheap. Here are my tips/info about sending stuff to the USA. 1) you must buy a box from the post office. The biggest box costs 11RMB. 2) They must pack the box for you at the post office. 3) all liquid and food items are banned. 4) all batteries are banned 5) The first kg is 91RMB after that it is 21RMB/kg. 6) max weight is 30kg. 7) shipping time is 2 months 8) insurance claims must be done at the place of purchase (i.e. ins is worthless) My first box was full of technical books. It was very heavy. In the end it weighed 31kg. I removed on book and sent it off to the USA. As you know each person is allowed to carry 2 stowed and 2 carry on items on a plane. Sometimes this means you will need to buy more luggage. I have found that boxes and cotton bags from the Chinese post office make for some of the best luggage. The post office boxes are double ply and they will strap them closed. The post office also sells cotton bags for 15RMB that are much much better than bian zhi dai that you see in the markets. Granted the post office bags are twice as expensive as a bian zhi dai but they are well worth the extra $1. These are great for clothing on a plane. And for those of you who think you are smart to buy chinese luggage, you may find your clothes and things all over the tarmac. Trust my good boxes are much much better.
  19. Totally true. My wife was the same. However the older generation in china was very conservative. I think the Chinese are just behind the curve. The young generation is very open, soon china will catch up!
  20. However the CIA estimates china has 1/10 the number of aids victims as the USA. Food for thought.
  21. Actually I had my lawyer take care of it. I was too afraid I would screw things up!
  22. Wow you had the exact same experience! We took contracts, bank statements everything to show we would come back. After 5 seconds they said and I quote "I have a bad feeling about you". 1-800 psychics!
  23. I was pissed over it! When I went to talk to them they said I needed to file for a green card. I said "you mean you want me to quit my job and move back to the states so that my wife can meet my parents? " They said yep
  24. My wife's moral is low. She feels like the US gov just doesn't like her. I keep telling her lots of people get turned down for B-1 visas.
