  1. Yes, I remembered you mentioned that. I wonder if they would take it, if you told them to just add it to your case instead? I think Robert's motive is to front load this for the interview. And he makes a good point about how long it will take the interviewer to read the letter since time is of the essence to them. GUZ's faq states that they can issue a blue because if the interviewee takes too long to dig out docs.
  2. steveandrong, if you can discuss facts, please do so, otherwise, please don't put words in my mouth.
  3. Yes - http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=530947 Is this permanent? Are you applying for PR in China? Our (US) house is expected to close on the 15th - that would be it, although I still have bank and brokerage accounts (and a son) in the US. I'm currently on an L visa - 2 yr, 90 day multiple stays - and am applying for a teaching job at Yulin Normal University, which would get me a Z-visa (and residence permit) Congats. Maybe you can start a subforum and fill us in on the wonders of your reverse immigration or at least how pain free it is to do it in reverse. ;-)

  5. Somalia's coastline is 3,025 kilometers / 1,879 miles long. You'll need quite a ground force to cover that area.
  6. Ya. That should help out with your income situation for the interview. Would some portions of imbra apply when they capture you? :-P
  7. On TMobile prepaid, it's 10 cents/minute when you refill in $100 increments. Anything less and the price/min goes up. Also, you need to fill at least $100 at least once per sim card to get the expiration to be 1 year. After the inital $100 fillup, all other top offs (can be as little as $10) will extend the expiration for another year. This is a good plan for people who uses fewer minutes than the monthly plans. Note, there is no data included with this prepaid plan. They have a daily prepaid plans which gives you free night and weekend talk time as well but prices are different. You can check out their website for more details.
  8. #1. Good luck getting everyone to agree. See WTO Doha round and Copenhagen climate summit for some examples. #2. They can in theory but won't in practice. Same reason they do not put federal air marshalls on all flights. #3. Irrelevant, as there is effectively no functional gov. in Somalia currently.
  9. Don't forget that these are civilian vessels. Good luck getting the military hardware. And even if you do, you are now banned from docking at port because of your toys. Who is going to pay for them? Do you know how much traffic passes through that area? Actually, you brought up a good point. Even if they were caught, I believe up until late last year, all the captors could do to the pirates were to catch them and repatriate them to their homeland. A UN resolution authorized the use of force and encouraged extradition to respective states for criminal prosecution. The multi-national navies that patrol the area has made life very difficult for Somali pirates this year. The pirates responded by expanding their home turf from the coast of Somalia all the way to the Indian ocean. Again, this tit for tat response does not go after the true cause of this pirate activity, namely the failed state of Somalia. No one is stepping up to address this fundamental issue.
  10. Some ships do hire armed guards as part of the crew. However, "armed" is a relative term. When the other side is sporting RPGs, machine guns, etc. and your security only has a handgun or rifle, the odds don't change much. I also heard that there are different regulations regarding arms that you can carry because every port (i.e. country) has it's own rules, regulations, permits, etc. Some countries don't allow weapons, period. Things can get mighty tricky real fast.
  11. Tom, Can you give a brief synopsis of what you prepared or brought to the interview? I am sure that will be a starting step for a lot of folks to use as reference.
  12. Or if they reschedule your appt. It might not be long before your AOS, ROC, etc. fees are also hiked by USCIS.
  13. See if FOX will air a story on it? :-) The anti-immigration lobby in this country will probably complain that the fees aren't hiked enough. I doubt that CFL has enough people on it to pull it one way or another, maybe if we get VJ and the other sites involved.
  14. It should be interesting to see the "children with tantrums" and the "marshall law while in flight" worlds collide.
  15. What technology is your wife's phone running? If it's not cdma, then you can't use Verizon. If it's not GSM and one of the chinese home brewed technologies, then you can't use it with other major carriers either. You would also want to check the frequency bands supported by the phone. I am not familiar with CDMA but for GSM cell phones, there are four different frequency bands used throughout the world: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz US uses 850 and 1900 primarily. If her GSM phone doesn't support any of these bands, she will need to get a new one.
  16. Raising of fees are inevitable, it's just how much they are hiking them that's notable this time. Maybe they are just trying to rebalance the supply demand curve. No doubt this will raise the barrier to entry for some folks and cause hardship for others. At least they are giving you a timeframe and venue to vent your grievances, I would encourage all who have opinions regarding these increases to voice them.
  17. NO sarcasm intended whatsoever to you Tony, as I agree with you about the initial screening...why the hell let the bomb material on the plane to begin with. Soon to come from your friendly airlines..... Please arrive at your departure airport 6 hours before your flight. Each passenger will under go am INTENSIVE strip search to include deep penetration cavity check. Please wear clean underwear and thoroughly wash your ass and private parts....a squirt of an expensive cologne on your private parts would be welcome. NO CARRY ON BAGGAGE ALLOWED, to include women's purses and men's "European Travel Bags". Please enjoy your flight with us, we appreaciate your business and the look at your equipment. tsap seui It's suffice to say that the bad guys made their point. Even if their initial motives weren't achieved, the secondary effects have left (and will continue to leave) their marks on all of us for a long time.
  18. http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_9.htm Look under transit section. You can just show the plane ticket and you can get in without a visa. But, I would call them to make sure. Alternatively, you can have her apply for a private visa/entry permit and she will not have any trouble.
  19. They aren't dummies, the strength of the Chinese economy is one of the claims to legitimacy for the CCP, they have too many mouths to feed not to do whatever is at their disposal to stimulate growth, especially with overall resentment about the gov. growing steadily over the years.
  20. Why are you going to file your taxes so soon? I doubt you'll even get your W2's by then.
  21. Yeah, and TSA was bitch slapped by the media for it. The Political staffer recorded the entire thing on his iphone and released it to the world. And it looks like the ACLU has made sure TSA doesn't play rent-a-cop anymore. http://www.aclu.org/national-security/tsa-...after-aclu-sues As others have pointed out, you are allowed to bring any amount of monetary instruments across US borders, provided you declare if it is over $10K USD. Of course, by declaring it, you are also arming them with probable cause to detain you for "suspicious" activities if your explanation isn't satisfactory.
  22. Robert did your lady get the P4 packet in the mail yet?
  23. Or if you want to wait until she is really whited before doing anything on your end you can always opt for a wedding in Hong Kong, much easier paperwork wise. There is a 15 day waiting period after registration before the nuptials can take place however. And if you are really paranoid, you can probably pipeline it by registering before your interview and only go through with the marriage if you can't get the K1. GUZ is only a short ride from HK. http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/bdmreg_4.htm But I think your best bet is to get some nice sedatives and have your woman wake you up when it's over. ;-)
  24. The broken link is actually, the Medical Examination Forms (DS-2054,DS-3030, DS3025, DS-3026) bullet item under the K-1/K-2 Appointment Packet (¡°Packet 4¡±) section of http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...and_packets.htm Why wouldn't this form be needed? By the way, the source you quoted is for the USCIS, not State Department. Civil surgeon forms are for adjustment of status, right? I am just getting ready for the interview. The I-693 is a USCIS form for the medical exam You have successfully answered the question of why we shouldn't bother to help someone who doesn't bother to post their information. Congratulations Well my original post was to validate if the file was corrupted. When you followed up with a link for the I-693, I followed up with a better detail of exactly where I found this broken link and what for. What more info did I *not* post? By the way, I still don't see the link between the I-693 and the medical forms (DS-2054,DS-3030, DS3025, DS-3026). Is the I-693 a subset of the others? The I-693 is used to adjust status in the states, and is NOT needed by the applicant. Thanks.
  25. The law is that you are allowed to look at your credit history once a year for free. It will not tell you the score but you can look at everything else from the 3 big credit reporting companies. I know this, but the companies refused. Hubby was by the phone so it is not like they denied me because I wasn't my husband. This ever happen to anyone else? It was about 6 months after coming to America so he should have had some kind of report since he had a social and was on my card for 6 months. Oh well, maybe he can get his report this year lol. What was their reason for refusal? They are required by law to let you view the contents of what they keep on you (if they have one.) All 3 bureaus have AVR phone lines where you can leave your info and they will snail mail you a report. If you can't get through the phone maze, you can write them for a report. Send it via certified mail with return receipt to get their attention.
