The way its supposed to work is she will have to go thru Immigration, USCIS and customs at LAX. She will then check her bags in for the connecting flight and then meet you and you can do security and walk to the gate to gather. I have always used JFK and so did Fen. We did not have any problems and the staff there has always been friendly.

We are all set We went to the Danbury,CT SS office today and applied for her SS card without any problems. We then went to city hall and got a marriage liscence and they did not even ask for previous divorce papers or any birth certificates. Go figure.

Also look at JFK as an POE as it might be cheaper for you to fly to JFK as opposed to LAX. There are direct flights from Bejing and Shanghai to JFK. If you do decide JFK, I would recommend Air China as they come to Terminal 1 which will be much faster then an airline comming to terminal 4 (The main international arrival terminal).

I had the same problem. I had Fen fly from GUZ to Bejing to JFk on Air China and not Seoul or non Chinese airline because of the language. I also had her fill out copies of I-94 and customs before hand so I could check them. If there is no direct flight from ANYWHERE in China to Atlanta I would suggest you going to her POE airport.

I moved to Danbury, CT but CT requires a blood test. I thought I will go to city hall and figure out what needs to be done as a backup plan. They are closed becoz of the snow that is on its way oh well so am I. rare day off. All I need now is a good Chinese massage with a happy ending.

I went to the Bedford,NY city hall today to get a marriage liscence. The town clerk told me that the white book (birth certificate and divorce decree) she has from China is upacceptable. It has to be translated by a certified translator or by the Chinese Consulate I told her the Fedral government gave her a visa using these documents so how come you can not give us a liscence. "Those are my instructions" she said I will try Mt.Kisco city hall next week. I went there too but they can not even tell me when thay can give me an appointment till Tuesday next week. I told Fen "Welcome to America"

One other thing to add to that, You already told her about you needing surgery and she asked you to wait for her. If you get it done without her being there you might be back in the hospital when she gets back.

Actually it is correct. There is no provision in the law to use a co sponsor when using I-134 but a co sponsor can be used when filing I864 (AOS). Basically the petetioner has to meet income requirements for i134 but not necessary for I864. It is an anamoly in the law and is not always enforced for I134.

I took the train from HK to GUZ last year. Dont remember seeing a customs check point there; just police dogs sniffing luggage.
