  1. WAY TO GO !! Congrats !! tsap seui
  2. Guys, thank you each one very much for your replys and advice, I greatly value your experience and help. While I very much wanted to attend ACH, my girlfriend's home is a helluva "LAWNG WAY" away from Guangzhou so I'm gonna have to let my passport show the VO my commitment to my girlfriend, as well as the cast iron, porcelained, and 24 carat gold appointed kitchen sink I will present her with. Thanks again, tsap seui
  3. Not met Mr. Yang yet, but have read many good reviews of his housing, support, and caring nature from the people ahead of us that have stayed there. My girlfriend called Mr. Yang a few days ago and was impressed and comfortable with his answers...so July 18th...we're gonna BE THERE BUCKO !!! And we'll call him when we get to Guangzhou so we don't have to deal with the hucksters outside. I'll take lots of monoply money to give the husksters so they can buy more phony badges and outfits, eh? tsap seui
  4. I got back around a computer last night and saw that there will be no ACH on July 20th. Our interview is July 26th so that leaves the 13th as our only option. For 8 months I have planned on attending ACH. My girlfriend isn't keen on sitting in hot Guangzhou in a hotel room with her 11 year old son for almost four weeks...arrival in Guangzhou on the 11th, ACH on the 13th, the interview on the 26th, and then the wait of 2-7 days if they are given a pink slip to get their visas. I've worked my butt off studying and getting everything in order for success so my question is simply, is ACH important enough to swealter it out an extra couple of weeks for? I'll be on the forth floor awaiting them on interview day and she'll hand in my passport with theirs. I just feel bad that there is something else that I could do for them and need to get others opinions. If you guys firmly think I should attend and get my attendance entered into the computer under their case number then I will be happy to do so. Thanks, tsap seui
  5. In the words of that great American icon, Homer Simpson...."Doughnuts, Mmmmm" I'm gonna go to ACH on the 20th and a load of doughnuts in my gut would be a proper way to meet with the VO's...LOL My girlfriend would probably puke if she ate a doughnut, and even though I have told her everything about me I must admit that I haven't told her my culinary habits in Uncle Samville are deadly. I can just see her gettin' a baseball bat grip on her mop as she watches her son and I knockin' down a dozen delicious, yummy, dreamy, fat laden, cholesterol drippin', artery cloggin', heart stoppin', cardiac surgeon lovin' doughnuts....Oh Gawd, COUNT ME IN!!!!! I'm going to make plane reservations to reach Guangzhou on the 18th and I'll ask my girlfriend to call Mr Yang about a couple of rooms in the next few days. It would be great to meet some of you guys, have some laughs, and attend the ACH. I love havin' fun and that Friday would be perfect. Most of the rest of the time in Sweatville I'll pretty much be helping my girlfriend prepare for the interview but we'll take some breaks and it would be nice to make some new friends and help each other. Scoby, and anyone else that may be in Guangzhou in late July, please PM me. I'm finishing up a flip house tomorrow and leaving tomorrow night for the fathers day weekend, but will be back around a computer on next Tuesday. Good luck to everyone.... tsap seui I couldn't find the pinyin for "meat n' taters"
  6. You can imagine our elation after I just made the call to DOS and found out our interview is set for July 26th!! Our P-3 was very slow in coming and we figured we would get an interview date in late August or early September. Heck, I wasn't even going to call DOS for another 2 weeks as my lady had only sent back the P-3 on May 22nd...but...a little birdie sitting on my should was telling me, "Give em' a call". Well, I wiped the bird poop off my shoulder and called DOS, and got the good news. I'm thinking we'll probably go to Guangzhou on the July 18th or so and it would be great to meet up with anyone that will be there around then and interested in going to ACH. tsap seui Maybe soon I can stop being the "chopped vegtables and noodles guy" on CFL and can state my real name, my girlfriends name, and where we she is from in China and where we will live in Uncle Samville.
  7. I once read David Z advising others to look at the interview as a two or three part process in our goals of the visa for our loved ones. I have listened to that simple statement, taken it to heart and conveyed it CLEARLY to my girlfriend/wife, and found that it has taken most of the stress of the upcoming interview off of us both. Sure, we would love to get a pink slip and the visa at the interview, but my lady well understands (now) that I will be there with her for the interview and if she gets a blue slip...no worries, I'll be right back for the overcome interview, holding her hand. I know it sucks to get slapped in the face with that blue slip, but this ain't no footrace. Just get those simple items asked for, write a short letter about the first wife, wait out the 2 or more months to get an appointment, and she will get the visa. You'll be laughing about this ordeal one day soon. Good luck to ya, tsap seui
  8. Just a short hop of 118 days, NVC approval to P-3 in hand, for us. No worries, you'll get the packet soon. tsap seui
  9. Ron, thank you so much for telling us about Ivy's interview. I've been waiting to see what possibly could have gone wrong as every since I first found CFL I've watched the progress of you and the others that were ahead of us. I was floored when I saw the news of a blueslip for Ivy because I knew you had everything in order. Now, I am thankful to see that it worked out for you both. tsap seui
  10. COngratulations!!!! Lots of good news today. tsap seui
  11. Hot damn, way to go!!!!!!!!!!!! tsap seui
  12. Good luck to you both. I hope it works out well, and quickly. tsap seui
  13. Really cool pictures TB. Thanks for sharing them. tsap seui
  14. I got the extreme pleasure of being with my girlfriend and helping her pick out her engagement ring in her hometown. I wouldn't trade that for anything. I went through this fake ring business when I came home from Vietnam as a kid and bought a diamond ring for my first wife in Hong Kong...LOL...we had to get it resized in America and I remember the jeweler starting to tell us it wasn't worth anything, until I interrepted him to tell him I bought it in Hong Kong on my trip home from the war. He saw my wife losing her look of elation and blushing joy and quickly changed his story to what a nice ring it was. When we happily bought this ring we never mentioned anything about the ring probably being a fake and really don't care if it is or isn't. It is only a symbol of our love and committment and I don't look at it as anything else. The shared experience, and future memories of the event of buying the ring together is worth much more than any certification papers as to it's monetary worth. After all, it's not like I am ever going to try and sell the ring at some point. She will have it on at the interview. tsap seui
  15. Thanks for the report Steve. At this point our application is just a few weeks ahead of yours, but this could change if anything slows down our progress in the name checks, etc. The timeline for us went like this...NVC forwarded our case to Guangzhou on January 12 and I called the DOS on April 27th to find out that GUZ had logged it as "open" on April 27th (107 days). When I called the DOS one week later, after I got back from China, the computer now said our P-3 packet was "sent" on Apri. My girlfriend actually picked up the packet this past Friday and will send it back tomorrow. We had filled out the P-3 forms during my January visit so she didn't have too many questions to ask me...LOL Thanks again for telling us about your visit to ACH. It really helps to hear about everyones experiences as I'll be going to ACH in July or August before the interview. Good luck, I hope that P-3 packet gets sent out quickly for you two. tsap seui
  16. Thanks very much for the replies. Day before yesterday I passed the first replies on to my SO, she talked to her girlfriend, and it looks like some poor guy in America is not going to be having his girlfriend joining him anytime soon as she laughed my concerns and your replies off as "no good".. Oh well....I guess some people look at it like, why mess up a "good" application with the truth. It's really a shame. On a positive note, I was woke up around 1:00am with a phone call from a very excited lady calling me to tell me her P-3 arrived!!!!!! While I was in China in April the DOS told us on April 27th that our case was "now open". I got home on the 29th and called again that Friday to see if name checks had be initiated and was told that the P-3 packet was sent to my SO on ....April 27th....huh? Anyhow, our P-3 packet is now in hand. tsap seui
  17. My SO has a girl friend who is a couple of months ahead of our application for the visa. This lady is a K-1 and is awaiting her P4 and interview date. My So has been lifelong friends with this lady and has asked me to ask this question. In January of last year the lady went to an American consulate in Shenyang and applied for a visa to go to America for one week to look at a cosmetic line for a small business she owned. As far as I can understand the lady was turned down with no reason given...so she has a denial on her passport. The dilema for the lady is she hasn't told her American boyfriend about this denial, has gone and gotten a replacement passport (which has recorded in it that it is a replacement for the old passport number), and she wants to answer question 31 on the DS-156 with a no (Have you ever been denied a visa to the US...when, where, why?)...the lady's friends on 001 and in America have told her it is no problem with the new passport and since the question is on a P4 form that it will not be checked by Guangzhou. I don't know what to tell my girlfriend to tell this lady and I have grave fears about advising her to lie on her forms. Heck, I am even having MY SO to admit on her P3 forms that she used another name briefly back in 1998. Does anyone know if Guangzhou looks at the computers of, or checks with their other "in country" consultates to see if these women were ever denied a visa as part of their name checks? And is simply getting a new passport going to help this woman? Thanks for your advise and knowledge, it may help this woman to avoid a lot of fear and stress...and/or possibly to not make a white slip mistake. tsap seui
  18. LOL...Make note to self. Ask SO to teach me how to ask "where is mig wa Citizen Hour".
  19. Good luck to ya Curt, it is great for us guys behind you to hear about the process. Bring home the PINK!! I'm off to see my lady in a couple of weeks and I've told her about Mr. Yang and how we will stay there, go to Guangzhou a week early so she can get her medical, and I can attend ACH. She feels so much more at ease and confidant, even if we got a blue slip she understands it could be a two or three part process....but we are working on ONE. I love the fact that I can be there with her for this important part of our lives. Again, good luck and thanks for tellin' us about the Guangzhou experience and what to expect. tsap seui
  20. The first time my girlfriend used the word pinyin to me it sounded like she said pee-in, so I answered "nah, I'm okay"...she looked at me with a question mark on her face and I spelled out the word urinate on her pocket translator. I only had to run a half a mile before she finally threw down the mop and laughingly hugged me. tsap seui Ignorant hillbilly
  21. Thanks Dan, We plan on staying there in July or August...LOL...or maybe sooner. tsap seui
  22. tsap seui

Good luck guys, us people behind you will be hoping the best for you. tsap seui
  23. Sir, what is your current e-mail address? I hope to see you in August, or so, if things go well with our application. We will stay in your apartments and I look forward to meeting you. tsap seui
