  1. what was the number again? Also, how many days after you sent out your P3 did they tell you by phone what your interview date was? OOPS!! I saw the answer to my question on your time line...Thanks But I still need the number.
  2. We are crossing our fingers for a mid August interview. I want to call them soooo bad to ask if an interview date has been scheduled but i think I better give it one more week before harrassing them
  3. Does anyone mind sharing the nightly rates for staying at Mr Yangs?
  4. Anyone mind giving some nightly rates for these different hotels?
  5. Hey Tom: Yes, you seem to qualify. I'm assuming you are there on a working Z visa. My wife and i married in April and DCF'd in Beijing in May. So if you need any advice or directions from someone who has DCF'd in China recently feel free to ask. I know when we began the process we were very confused and afraid because there weren't many people who DCF'd in China on the forum, so many of the answers we received about our questions were assumptions rather than first-hand knowledge. Except for Dnoblett....he's an expert on everything. He's a great guy to have on your side. The other thing that made our situation even more unique on CFL was the fact that I am American, my wife is Russian, both of us lived and worked in China, we married in China and we DCF'd in China. I haven't seen another case like ours on CFL yet. I'm not saying there isn't another case like ours, I just haven't run across anyone yet. One thing you should know the answer to before you begin the process is: How do you plan to handle the Affidavit of Support? I'm assuming you are an English teacher in China and working for a Chinese company.
  6. dnoblett, the link mentions Hepatitis B, actually... and so does the "Important_Notice_to_Immigrant_Visa_Applicants_Concerning_Vaccination_Requirements_Jun_09" http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...and_packets.htm Could you tell us your source of information, please? Another question - I have had Varicella when I was little, but the hospital lost my medical records and so I have no proof but because I have had it, no shot - obviously - has been administered. Is there anything I can do not to have to have a vaccination? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance
  7. My wife never had the Hepatitis B shots and the requirements for those are to be taken from birth to 18 years of age. She is now 27, is she still required to have those shots? http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/vaccinat...quirements.html
  8. My oldest son is 18 years old (turns 19 this month), employed, I didn't claim him on my 2008 tax returns and the state of Wisconsin considers a person an adult at the age of 18. Do I have to include him in my poverty line calculations?
  9. Dnoblett, joining my husband with the thanks However, I just have to ask: on DS-230, #16 it says: Address of spouse, if different from your own. I filled in the current address of my husband in the US. However, when we filed the I-130, in Part B, #2 it asked Information about you (my husband) and information about your relative (me), and we filled in our address in China at the time (which is still my address at this moment). Also, in G-325A, the part for "Applicant's residence last 5 years", we also filled in our at the time Chinese address. So, now, given that the address for my husband in I-130 and in DS-230 is filed differently, should we or should we not contact the consulate and point out the change, or is it already obvious to them from the forms? Thank you in advance
  10. Thanks a million dnoblett, I hope you realize just how much your answers and advice helps us all out. You are directly responsible for reducing the blood pressure and hearth rate for many of us on this forum. Thank you again
  11. I understand the letter of employment from my employer needs to be on company letterhead with the start date, salary, title of position, HR contact info, addressand my name. Is there any other information that should be in the letter? Also, does it need to be addressed to GUZ or can it just be a "To Whom It May Concern" style letter?
  12. The thing is - the DS-230 that has just been sent back to GZ states a US address, as opposed to China address in the I-130 and G325 for my husband. I figure since theres been a change in the forms we submitted to the consulate, there may need to be a change we report to them in the email. Would that not be correct? Thanks in advance
  13. I am the petitioner and I'm back in America. I should use the above link to submit my home address? I just want to make sure because on prior forms it is listed as my domicile in America but now I'm actually back living in America. I hope I didnt confuse you.
  14. Both of you guys - thank you, what both of you are saying makes sense. So here are some more facts. Sadly, BJ only issues police certs for BJ alone. It is a fact I bore witness to. And they do put a "from" and a "to" date on it. That's how it went - and I dont have a language barrier to account for any possible misunderstanding (sometimes I wish I did) - when I applied for my police cert in BJ end of May this year, I came to a place the visa bureau sent me to (entry and exit bureau middleman, don't ask me why they need one). I told them I need a police cert to verify I don't have a criminal record IN CHINA. They said - cool, make a copy of every Chinese visa in your passport, write an application form, pay the fee, we'll handle it. They asked me when I first came to China and which city it was and what visa I was on. Wrote it all down, said - come back in 2 weeks, cert will be ready. I did. The certificate covered the entire period of my stay in China but said "During this period of residence in Beijing, xxx did not commit any crimes". I thought it was a typO, and said so. That's when I found out that Beijing does not and would not issue anything for anywhere outside of Beijing and that they don't have a uniform database. The lady - who accepted my application 2 weeks prior - denied that I ever told her I lived elsewhere and needed it to cover the entire China. I lost my cool and argued with her. She denied again. Her word against mine, nothing I could do. She called the Entry and Exit bureau of BJ for me, I spoke to an official. He told me they don't issue anything for outside of Beijing. He told me to go back there and get it myself. Very politely. Now, I am not one of those foreigners who'd say: what do you want, this is CHINA. I know it is not CHINA, but an incompetent individual whose incompetence cost me 2 weeks of time. But the issue remains: Do I need another police cert? May I plead "unobtainable". Should I risk it? Should I go back to Changchun and try to get it? I have no registration form from that time period even though I was registered with the police there. I know this is hardly the right forum to seek advice, I might be one of the few non-Chinese spouses DCFing in China, but I need information. Thank you again for being so supportive and helpful. Thank you to those who might be able to shed some more light on the subject.
  15. I would assume they know about my trips back to Russia the same way they know about my trips to China (i.e. entry, exit, new visa issued at border). I would also assume they do care because they want accountabilty for every step, hence the detailed application form. From what you're saying; on a 1 year china visa, I can come to China for one month, leave back to Russia for 10 months and return to China during the 12th month and still need a Chinese Police Certificate for the entire year even though I was really on there 2 months.
  16. Thank you ShaQuaNew an Waingro; The part that truely confuses us is the direct quote from the "Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants": "(3) from all countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year". What is meant by that? I would assume it means that if I resided in China for a continuous 1 year period I would need the Chinese Police Certificate to cover that 1 year time period. But if the time period in China was less than one year, I would not be considered 'living' in China so my home country would default to the country where I 'live'. As a result, I would need to get a police certificate from my home country. So because I left Beijing and went back to Russia twice during that year (staying in Russia for 1 month each trip), does this mean I should have my Russian Police certificate cover that year time period and not China? Please please help me to see some clarity on this. Thank you everyone for helping us through this.
  17. Thank you again. I do have them all... but only for Beijing, sadly. Still wondering if exit and entry marks in the passport punctuating my stay in China mean anything in terms of whether I need a police cert from that locality. Technically, the only place in China I stayed in continuously for over 12 months was Beijing. Again, this is nothing but speculation on my part, and GZ help desk is useless and clueless, sadly, from our I-130 experience.
  18. You are right, and I did register with the police department for the period of stay in Changchun. However, when they issued me the police cert in Beijing, they said their databases aren't connected, so they can't issue me a certificate for my time in Changchun, even though I was legally registered there. So it means I will have to go there? Or does it count, since I only lived there for 2 continuous periods of 5 months? It is confusing. Thank you for your reply
  19. Another question regarding police certificates - I - the beneficiary - am a Russian citizen, we DCF in BJ in May, now it's the P3 stage. I am preparing police certificates from China and Russia. Me and my husband lived in Beijing together for 3.5 years, however, before that we lived in Changchun, Jilin province, for 11 months. From there, we moved to BJ. This is a quote from the "Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants": "(3) from all countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year". I did live in China from 2004 to 2009. However, it was in different cities and only Beijing qualifies for 12 months, but the instructions say "countries". Does it mean I have to go to Changchun now and apply for another cert? It is an aweful lot of hassle and money. I have left Changchun once for about a month during my stay there to go back to Russia for a holiday, I have a record of exit and entry in my passport. And I did leave Beijing every half a year till 2007. Does that matter? Advice of any sort would be appreciated. Thank you in advance
  20. Actually, it is really funny, the Russian police cert - I am in Russia right now handling the certificate and immunization records part - is extremely easy to get. I spent an overall of 10 mins in the office, it's a 2 week wait and it's absolutely free of charge, plus it covers the entire period of my life in Russia. Chinese cert cost me ~200-300 yuan and still needs to be translated and notarized! Plus they only gave it to me for BJ, and said I need to go to each and every other city I lived in for additional certs! Do Chinese nationals have to go through that?
  21. I returned to America on May 30th after being in China for 5 years working for Chinese companies. We will be mailing our P3 check list back to GUZ tomorrow. I just accepted a new job in America for an American company two days ago and I begin that new job on July 20th. Also the salary is above the 125% poverty level. I received my official 'offer letter' from the company via email yesterday detailing my position, salary, benefits and start date. My questions are: 1) Because there is a chance I may not receive my first pay check stub before my wife has her interview, will the 'offer letter' be enough? 2) Would it be better to ask my new employer to write me a letter to verify my employment and salary? 3) If yes, is there a preferred format for the letter? 4) What do you think about the fact that I may not of received my first pay check yet? Thank you everyone
  22. For the DS-230 form in P3, is it required to fill in the hard copy attached in the P3, or is it ok to load an electronic copy off http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...and_packets.htm, fill it in on the PC, print it and then send it in? If you have done the fill in of electronic copy instead of the hard copy mailed to you, please share. Also, would the same apply to the checklist? Thank you in advance
  23. Hello: We just received our P3 from GZ yesterday and now it happens that the mailing address we'll need the P4 emailed to must change. What are the exact steps to inform the GZ consulate of those changes so that it wont affect how fast our case is handled? Also, I heard that with DCF there is no case number, but the letter in P3 informed me that from now on there will be a case number and gave me the case number. Any experiences with that? Thank you
  24. Joyous news - we received our P3 from GZ today! It has been 1 month and 20 days since we DCF our I-130 in BJ! Our I-130 has been approved on May 26th, so it's 1 month sharp since! Now, we have a question regarding the checklist we need to send back - of course we want to send it back as soon as possible. However, the police certificate will only be ready in 2 weeks. Plus translation, notarization, etc. It is obvious that by the time the P4 is mailed to us and the interview is scheduled, we will have the police certificate ready. So, we want to mail the checklist and forms next week. However, if we do, the checklist will pre-date the police certificate issue. Could the consulate in GZ reject us on those grounds? Has anyone on this forum dealt with anything similar (sent the checklist before the items were physically obtained, but knowing they will be)? Please, share. Thank you in advance
