1. lou, Fair enough and I respect that. My opinion has been based on communication differences and misunderstandings due to culture and language. I can't air dirty laundry but she was convinced to deceive me after our first meeting. Much of it was to gain acceptance by her family---I busted her on it. She has not taken a dime from me since and proved herself worthy of my trust. Anyhow your opinion seems to be the majority. I am a good guy--so I have a lot of thought to do. It would be easier if I felt better about our interpreter.
2. Trust but verify 232433 Thomas, Your opinion I do not quite understand. I saw today that you are quite respected for your efforts and have seen first hand some difficulties. I could tell you that my situation is different from yours but I do not know if that is true. From what you read of my post---yes to prenup or no? 232436 pshbark, That is definitely the last thing I want to hear--but I appreciate your being candid on that. I have a Chinese friend here who went the K-3 route and he suggested to not tell her and that she will understand. I think she would marry me but I worry just how upset she would be.

4. Thanks for supplying previous posts about this David. I have not read it all yet but I would like to see some responses based on my personal situation. If you are anti-prenup in all cases let me have it. I am stuck in my own mind about this but my attorney handles these cases and he made me promise to do this. I am leaning slightly towards the side of doing it but I WILL NOT tell her this while she is in China. I understand why some may think this is wrong. If I do this I fully intend on it stating that 50% of my increase in assets from the time of my marriage go to her. This will only exclude any inheritance I receive from my mother. My father passed a few years ago right after his 3rd marriage. His 2nd marriage was his doom due to stress. His 3rd wife that he was married to for one year found a loophole and drained the entire trust meant for my brother and me as well as the 3rd's wifes daughter. It was approx 1.2 million. As you can imagine, I endured a difficult period especially after learning my dad's ex had 3 prior wealthy husbands that died in the last 12 years. I am not suggesting foul play although. All of this has made a significant impact on me but quite frankly none of it has to do with my SO. My SO also has made a big down payment on an apartment in China. It is like a 20 year mortgage and about $60,000 is owed on it. I do not know all of the terms. She has flip-flopped on what to do with it. I know she wants to keep it but feels it is a burden on me until she learns English well. Believe me it took much time for me to have complete trust in her because I fought it. If I do the prenup I plan on this apartment being hers totally and I will pay it off before its maturity. Still, very different from my experiences, I in a way want all of our property to be community property and take my chances. This is not my nature but I want to prove to all my doubters that true love exist. I also want to protect myself from total fraud although I cannot imagine that. Any thoughts?
5. You guys have more information and have been so willing to help. I feel like I am high maintenance. Especially to you--David. I have talked to the SO after taking all the advice on numerous subjects and things are great. This prenup thing is kind of an interesting deal. My attorney is a Chinese man and before he took my case he strongly suggested that I do one. I am not rich by any means but have some investments and property. Also I live in a community property state. Any thoughts on this? I am kind of uncomfortable about it. I really trust my SO that much.
6. Warped, If you get blue-slipped, how long is it before you can get a chance for another interview?
7. OK, Thanks guys. She can speak enough to explain "that she feels more comfortable answering in Chinese." I am learning Chinese but I don't see how that plays into the equation. I am not allowed to be there for the interview--correct. It is a little late for me to do a video. From my reading it looks as if much of it will depend on her staying cool and the interviewer.
8. I have read many of the prior threads concerning interview questions. My question is how important is it that the SO know some English for the interview. I have read many different thoughts on whether this is important or not. As you can guess, the SO really struggles with English.
9. you got P3 ! Your [NVC out - P3 in] time (as is the previous member getting P3) faster than normal, by almost a month This could be due to fewer cases having left USCIS since march; ergo, I've wondered what the consulate has been doing with fewer cases on hand. This throws one small wrench into my earlier comments to Bill; whether the lower case counts at the consulate will pull those waiting for an interview, in quicker or not... since there are fewer overall cases with whom you are competing... yuan fen: I've updated your timeline you passed along and now the P3..but having issues uploading to the ftp site.. so I have not forgotten you! 232073 Yep! Would have had it back out today, but having the wonderful SO that I do she did not want to wake me. Anyway. I'm in one of the last groups just before the halt. I was in limbo for a while. I didn't know if I would sweak through to be launched into the process, or if it would take the latter. Bill's could see the same possibly. I suppose this has been on my mind quiet a bit, and my recent interest in what's actually going on. 232078 Congradulations! Getting the P-3 was my biggest pain so that is good news. I may be going to China in September----Yipee. 232085 Bill, I know your ready to go. I know it has been a while. David, Actually it has been 69 days from NVC-out to P3-in, which looked about average to me looking at timeline #s? About on schedule. Unless I'm just not understanding your meaning. 232099 I am ready to go. I have been fantasizing about that 14 foot plastic goat all day.

11. yaun fen, What is going on? Something good happen. I had some good tenderloin last night. Notice how my wedding is probably going to fall right during the Georgia rut.
12. David, I think she sent it somewhere around June 19. Should I let her know anything? All she knows is that it is logged into the computer. I try to be cautious with her with all of the letdowns. 232049 I wanted to compare you to your "P3-peer group".. since this is the best indicator of when to expect P4. This group is at the end of the line right now, in terms of waiting for the interview to be schedule... My guess is that you will NOT get an Sept interview... Obviously, after we see how many get Sept interviews, it will be easier to judge the next round... it is important to have realistic expectations and being cautious or conservative is often a good thing in this visa process... Again, I don't see Sept as going to happen for you, but doesn't mean it won't. I would advise her that you guys have everything completed and are waiting to be scheduled; that you know of a group of people ahead of you and you can watch their progress... 232053 David, I see. So this would mean that we may not even know of an interview date until September? I think just having the date would mean a great deal for us. 232059 I expect that next week will be the start of some P4s, probably continuing through Aug 13... So you'll have a very strong indication by then about any Sept interview. Then the cycle repeats at the end of the next month. You will generally have about 40 days notice for the interview. What I recommend is if you want to try and get a few days advance notice to the mailing, call DOS a few times during this P4 cycle; say two times a week for this next cycle. Again, as we see how quickly the P4s are received, we'll see if any in your 'peer group' get one. 232064 OK! Great advice--I appreciate it. The DOS does not seem enthused about taking these calls. Of my 4 calls, they all seem like they have much more pressing things to do.

15. This is Sha Qua's day today. I was informed that name check has been completed and the SO is eligible for interview. Another obstacle completed. I guess I will call every so often to see if the interview has been scheduled.
16. Congrats! Great news. I look forward to my day soon
17. Best Wishes! I can imagine the stress!
18. OK! I think she might have told me that she was eligible for interview but I should probably confirm this. The SO needs some good news. 231638 Per USCONGUZ, K visa Name Checks are usually completed before shipment to GUZ but there is no guarantee of that or that their won't be another. Eligible for interview means that any Name Checks are complete AND that all the paperworks is in order AND that a P4 is soon to follow. If not "eligible for interview" then I would ask if Name Check is complete. 231649 pshbark, Thank you! I will check to just be sure. They seemed really busy today when I called and I hate bothering them but should I call again tomorrow or give some time? My SO sees things so matter of factly. She hears something and assumes it is so. I have been through a roller coaster--I am sure most everyone knows what I mean.

20. Well I called DOS and the P-3 is logged and no problems as far as they can tell. I asked about a possible interview date and was told "probably not long". I guess this is good news.
21. Congratulations and my best wishes for your future together!!! 230654 Peachy, Congrats! My SO sent her P3 about a week after you so I am very excited about this as well. I will keep calling and bugging DOS.
22. Frank, Congrats! Thanks for the summary. All the best to your family!
23. David, Thank you very much! Your have been great help. I am still understanding and learning. Bill
24. Randy, Thanks for your reply. I have filed the I129 and was approved. I do not know the terms P1-4. I got a notice that I was approved and the case was being forwarded to Guangzhou Consulate. My fiancee got a letter and asked her to send the DS-230. I was under the impression that she would get one notice with an interview date. Obviously this is not the case. Would you estimate that she would be granted an interview in the next couple of months?
25. I am so thankful for finding this site. Any help would be appreciated. I met my fiancee over a year ago and look very forward to getting her here. She has recently sent in the DS-230(two weeks ago). I have sent her all my financial information, receipts, pictures. The only thing I forgot was the letter of intent to marry her. I will send this very soon. It was my understanding that soon she would receive another packet with instructions and an interview date via mail. My fiance is asking me to call DOS(I don't know who this is) for updates. Can anyone enlighten me on what to expect from this point forward and a timetable? Any advice and knowledge would be much appreciated.
