  4. Welcome to CFL James. There is a ton of information here for you to read and links to follow. You have come to a great family here at CFL. This should give you some good reading to start. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=k3guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...tom&page=guides http://www.laogonglaopo.com/001files/K3_Fl...art_EN_Rels.htm Edited to add additional link.

  6. The applicant shall apply for the authentication from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-Generals within 3 months after the Affidavit of Single Status being notarized by the notary public. The Affidavit of Single Status is valid for 6 months after being authenticated by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-Generals. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/fhjh/t84256.htm This is from the bottom of the Chinese Embassy of the USA web page. It is the only information I could find in regard to the validity length of the certificate you mentioned. Mike Edited for spelling.
  7. Congratulations to the both of you, what a wonderful feeling that must be. We wish you the best of luck together. Mike and Rong
  8. Hi David, I don't know anything about the time process you mentioned but, I do know this. If I had even 1/10,000 of a chance to get my honey here even 1 extra day early I would. Sure it will cost a little extra for that chance, but have we all not spent some money for a chance at some other time? Yes, she would probably not be so keen on spending the money on the chance it may not work out faster in the first reaction, but we all know in our hearts it could be the best $ ever spent if it did. In the big picture, it is not a very large sum for the chance to be together even sooner. If the tables were turned, you know that she would do it for you. Getting to hold her in your arms again on US soil at last, I would do it in a heart beat. Good luck in your decision.
  9. I checked with my SO, and she said if the man wears a green hat, it means that his women is with another man. Also, not to wear any kind of turtle (picture/jewelry etc..) on the clothing too, as that means the same. "Both mean very bad" As for the ring, she likes the middle finger left hand. That way it puts it right up front in the middle for all the others to see (actually quite clever reasoning).
  10. Congradulations Dan, the finale countdown has begun.
  11. This is copied directly off of the Guangzhou Web Site: The Appointment packet includes: 1. Appointment letter (packet 4) in English 2. Appointment letter (packet 4) in Chinese 3. Appointment letter for immigrant visa applications (OF-171) 4. Application for immigrant visa and alien registration (DS-230 part II) 5. Family composition sheet (GIV-24) 6. Medical examination instructions (GIV-8) 7. Medical examination for immigrant or refugee applicant (DS-2053) 8. Chest X-ray and classification worksheet (DS-3024) 9. Vaccination documentation workseet (DS-3025) 10. Medical history and physical examination workseet (DS-3026) 11. Important notice to immigrant visa applicants concerning vaccination requirements What documents should I bring to the visa interview? The applicant should bring the following original documents: Forms in the appointment packet Chinese passport Two visa photos Notarial birth certificate Notarial marital status certificate. If divorced before, previous divorce certificates for each marriage are required. If any child from previous marriage will also apply for visa, a divorce decree showing the child's custody is needed. Notarial police certificates are required from each visa applicant aged 16 or over issued by his/her local municipal notary office where he/she has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. Medical report Affidavit of Support - I-864 and copies of the three most recent years' tax returns if not already submitted to NVC. Relationship evidence including family photos, correspondence and household registration to prove the claimed relationship. Translations: Police certificates from other countries not in English, or in the official language of the country must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn to before a notary public. Medical Examination Instructions Now that you have obtained the various documents required in connection with your immigrant visa application, you should make arrangements for your medical examination. All members of your family who intend to apply for their immigrant visas at this time must have a medical examination. This includes all children, regardless of age. You should arrange to undergo your medical examination at the hospital indicated below. Medical examinations conducted at other hospitals will not be accepted. You must go to the hospital to have your examination earlier than your visa interview appointment date. Each person who is examined must bring four photographs of himself to give to the examining physician. In order to speed up the document checking process when you come to the Consulate for your interview, the panel physician facilities will be checking your materials for completeness and putting the documents in the proper order for interview. At the time of your medical exam, please bring all the documents listed on Form OF-171, Appointment Letter for Immigrant Visa Applicants (K3/K4 applicants please refer to "Letter to K3/K4 Applicants"; V applicants please refer to "Letter to V Applicants"), with you to the designated clinic or hospital. The staff there will help to put these materials in order, and then return them to you in a sealed envelope which is to be opened only by the Consulate staff at the time of interview. Your signature will be required to indicate your participation in the process.
  12. I just checked my copies. Both people are the appliciant, 1 set of G-325A for you, 1 set of G-325A for her. On yours, which has only your information, in the bottom said box, it is your name, because you are the applicant for that individual G-325A. If you do have a Alien Registration Number, then write that down, if not, then write NONE. (You being the US citizen, most likely do not). On hers, which has only her information, in the bottom said box, it is her name, because she is the applicant for that individual G-325A. Because we are talking she is still in China (her being the Chinese citizen), and not yet admitted to the USA, she would not have a Alien Registration Number, so you would write NONE. I am sure the more senior members will tell us if I am not correct.
  13. What a difference 24 hours can make. I am very glad to hear that things are going so much better now for you. It sounds like you now have a much more clear path in front of you. Best of luck to you, and to Yanlan on the 20th, I will have a prayer said for you that night on the 19th (your 20th China time). Mike and Rong
  14. Thank you for your kind words. Rong is from Heilongjiang, and I am from Illinois.
  15. Thank you all for such a sincere and warm welcome. The cheetoes, that makes me smile. This morning while we were talking on the web cam, I showed her the new $10 bill. It looked a little orange colored in the camera on her end, and she asked me if I was eating chips and got it dirty ( not at that time I wasn't, the bill was brand new).
  16. Hi CFL, I am Mike and my SO is Rong. I am very glad to have been told about this site from a long time friend of my SO's. My SO's girlfriends husband was one of the founding members here. I have studied and poured over this site for awhile now, and the compassion, friendships, support, and helpfulness is amazing. So many of the stories and comments here at this site are as if I wrote them myself, and I was describing our life, our stories, our days events. Yes, I know that we belong here too. We first met in November of 2004, took a year to get to know each other, then met in person January 2006. Wow, talk about being in love with each other. Our K1 application is almost ready to be mailed, and then our journey will begin too. I look forward to a great time here with you. Mike & Rong
  17. Dear GUZ IV Unit. 2 weeks ago while at her interview, my SO's girlfriend saw the VO's giving out blue slips for this: K1 visa interviews we being told that the "city level notarizations" for the birth certificate, divorce decree, and singles certificate were no longer being accepted. That they had to go back home and then get them notarized again, but at the "provincial level". All of these had been completed in the standard white book, official red seal, English translation, and attest to the true translation, but had been notarized at the "city level' of the large towns where they lived, not at the capital of their Province. My question is this: Is this a new practice to only accept those official documents that have been notarized at the provincial level? Or, is the city level notarization of these documents still accepted? Thank you in advance for your time.
  18. Rick, take a shot with with consulate, make sure to be there early to get your number. 206022[/snapback] I copied this from the GUZ area yesterday. ACH is Friday for Immigrant Visas at 230, but be there by 130-145 to get a low number and thus not waste precious SO time sitting and waiting. They shut the door at 200, so don't get there late or you are out of luck. I got there about 140 and I was 15 or so numbers down the list, so I waited about 20 minutes into the hour. Spoke to a guy at the window for about 5 minutes and out the door. I will post the details separately.
  19. You are more than welcome, I can not even begin to imagine how you feel right now. If you need any other information, just ask and I will see if I have it stored.
