  1. I have used an ATM card all over China and never had a problem.
  2. Open an account in a bank in the U.S. get an ATM card and send it to you SO.
  3. Has anyone called the Chengdu or Guangzhou consulates? Are they helpful with advice or do they only answer case-specific questions? Here is the U.S. Government opinon on marriage in China, Check it out... http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/us-citizen/mrginfo.html
  4. So you are living back in the states? I guess a K1 would be faster for yall then. Im living here and I could file a I130 through a DCF. Some have told me its faster, some say slower. I filed in April and now I we are waiting for the interview (P-4). Since we hope for that by the end of year, I am traveling over to China next week to be with my fiancée. I hope it is faster!
  5. We tried to get married in Xi'an but we needed proof that I was not married. They said I could get that from the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Since it was Chinese New Year it was not possible to get to Beijing and back before I had to return home. When I returned I consulted an immigration lawyer and he said the K-1 was the fastest way to get her here.We tried to get married in Xi'an but we needed proof that I was not married. Why would you go there if you did not have to? One good idea is to go see where the new consulate / visa processing unit is and report back to the rest of us. Have a Great Time!!!
  8. Prepare the best pictures (ones with family are best, but be prepared to state who is in a picture.. if a US relative, make sure beneficiary knows who is who). Possibly prepare one picture of you two in traditional custom, like if you went to Yunnan.. The sight of a USC in chinese clothes usually brings a smile to a VO. - Group photos and correspondence into early, middle , recent ... some have been asked to see "early pictures" or "recent correspondence". I was told that it was good to have photos of well a known place, lke the Great Wall, Temple of Heaven,etc...in the backround. I met my SO at a disco in Xian over 3 years ago, I can not recall the name of the place but I think she could. Would they ask "what place you met?"
  9. David, I just want to say you are right on top of things and I printed this out and sent it to my girl in China because she always asks me "What will they ask me in the interview?" Thanks
  10. I will be with my "La poe" in Xian for 2 weeks in 14 days!!! I can not wait......
  11. Hey, thanks, I am in the same age range with my SO, she just passed the big 30!!! We met when she was 27 and time flies when you are waiting for the Guangzhou to process your papers...and having a little fun... B)
  12. If they make up their mind before the interview why do so many people say to bring so much evidence to it? Can anyone come up with an answer, it is like one side says "predetermined" the other "interview important." So let me see both sides "duke it out," and let the best one win....
  13. So can I ask you how much older are you than your SO?
  14. I call every day to China but use phone cards ( it is very cheap) so I do not have a record. But I do send a snail mail card or letter each week. We have lots of photos, since I met her 3 years ago I have made seven trips to China, soon to be eight. I hope we have enough to past the test.
  15. This is a sample, some people say letter needs to be HANDWRITTEN and translated into Chinese.Include your fiancée's date of birth, and be sure to notarize the document.
