  1. That arrest happened some time ago. I think on April 15th. Here is a link to a NJ paper that did a story in May. http://www.njherald.com/story/news/j0163-B...thru-05-26-0625
  2. Ready for a prediction? Little Rabbit will get the pink after a few easy questions. I can't wait to see the Funky Chicken video!

Congratulations on the new house! How sweet it is.
  4. Just be patient and persistent. You will get the visa.
  5. I am glad that you two are so close to your interview. Go Pink! Here's a little advice. Be cautious with your hopes. That way if things don't go well, you won't be devastated. For you and your wife this will be a life changing event, but for the CO, your wife is only another face and another person to screen for fraud or terrorism. We all know that the interview can be a crapshoot. If things go well, YOHOO!!! It will be all over except the trip to the US. If things don't go well, you will need to be strong for your wife, and assure her that you will take care of whatever needs to be done to solve the problem. Sometimes CO's make a mistake. If that happens, like it did for RobertH, insist on speaking with the Chief of the Immigration Unit. Hopefully you can clarify things and get the visa. Best of luck to you.
  6. Why don't you go back down to the consulate and ask the Immigration Visa Chief why you got the blue?
  7. Just read about this on China Daily. I know it effects some of our members, so I thought I would post the link. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-05...ent_9875992.htm
  8. How was the bomber able to get his citizenship after 6 months? Looking at the USCIS website. It says that he would have to have had a green card for 3 years, not an H1B or a student visa. He had to be living in marital union for 3 years prior to filing, etc. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000b92ca60aRCRD So something isn't right. Was it an error by the author? I think that this young guy, and the others that we have read about are being radicalized by jihadist religious leaders. They should be arrested, and tried as co-defendants. I also think that young men like this one should be required to take a class on brainwashing before they get their green card.
  9. Our poor China friends are getting their butts kicked with bad weather. Xinjiang got hit with heavy snow yesterday. All this time I thought Xinjiang was a desert http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/photo/2010-05...ent_9854459.htm To top it off they are having flooding in southern China. Really bad in Guangxi, but also in Guangdong. Guangzhou had 440mm which is 17.23 inches. in one week! http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-05...ent_9853863.htm Another weather related story has tornadoes in Heilongjiang province, just 120 miles form Harbin. What the heck is gong on? I thought that tornadoes were a US problem. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-05...ent_9854221.htm
  10. I think that the interview will be easy for your parents. Bringing some items to show proof of relationship is always a good idea. So, pictures, copies of documents that prove relationship, knowledge of where they will stay in the US, how they will be supported will be good for them to have just in case they get a zealous CO. It is better to have too much documentation and get approved, than to not have enough and get a blue slip.
  11. China is rapidly becoming a place with few sexual taboos. The CCP appears to be making only token efforts to bring things under control. Here is a recent article in China Daily about a recent bust of four night clubs in Beijing. These four night clubs employed 557 women! http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-05...ent_9845624.htm With such a huge population, trends like this Syphilis problem can take off like wild fire. The authorities better ramp up antibiotic production and sexual education programs.
  12. For you to visit Taiwan, it is pretty easy. All you need is a valid passport with at least 6 months till it expires, and a round trip ticket. You can stay for 30 days. This is a visa waiver program. Here is a link to the DOS page. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/c...ry_requirements I don't know how it will be for your wife. Can she contact the Taiwan Tourist Bureau in Beijing and get info from them?
  13. You could also file a change of address with the USPS so that if they did send you some mail at the previous address, it would be forwarded to the new one. You can do it online.
  14. So far so good. Today Fengjie got her green card. She did not understand what it was until I got someone to tell her in Chinese. So it is all good now. Today when I came home from work she had cleaned the garage. She is just that kind of woman. How are you to doing? Life in America is different for the both of us. Michael B) Glad to hear things are going well. We have settled in nicely and like any married couple have our share of disagreements. Cleaning is not her forte I am also glad that things are going well Michael. Sounds like Fengjie is adapting well. Sam, are you sure that you married a Chinese woman?
  15. I just had a couple of odd ball thoughts. Did you know that Japan is a participant of the VWP (Visa Waiver Program)? Yup, that means that she doesn't even really have to have a visa to visit the U.S. She would need to complete and ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) application. http://cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ If they authorize her, all she has to do is to get a plane ticket. You could file an I-130 and an I-864 when she is in the states. Randy, correct me if I didn't get the forms right. Frequently Asked Questions about the ESTA : http://cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/id_...tt/esta_faq.pdf
  16. I think that every state has an agency that deals with this. File a complaint with them, and if they don't give you satisfaction, get a lawyer and file your own suit.
  17. It's great to hear your good news. Enjoyed the write up too.
  18. I caught this article on China Daily. Seems like this Japanese professor knows what he is talking about. His plan seems like a good solution to the real estate bubble. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/opinion/2010-...ent_9750214.htm
  19. Wishing you a short processing time, and a speedy visa.
  20. So China, crying like they do about these situations when they have to compete, cried foul by charging these guys as spy's or something in retaliation. That is just wonderful. Larry Actually Larry, Rio Tinto raised the prices after China put on the big show trial.
  21. You know, the irony of this whole affair is that China is now paying about three times as much per ton of iron ore as before. When the B) hit the fan China was able to negotiate long term contracts for the iron ore, but now the big three iron or producers got together and made all of the buyers pay the spot prices for ore purchases.
  22. Carl really nailed it with these statements. I just read a fascinating expo on the Sydney Morning Herald. Here is a little quote: "A Shanghai newspaper says many private bribe-payers are likely to be prosecuted - but not the biggest bribe payer, Du. The mysterious deals he may have cut and the "guanxi" connections he has cultivated may be paying off." Here's the link. It is a good read, and worth the time. http://www.smh.com.au/business/bribery-pay...00416-skic.html
