  1. Our cat understands Chinese......but I've never heard her speak! This would be a good one for "China's Funniest Home Videos." Too Much!! PapaBear B)
  2. CONGRATULATIONS!! Glad to see another Nothern Californian/Beijing family together! Lao Po and I too enjoy the best of both worlds! We also like to frequent the Clement Street Chinese Stores and Restaruants and the abundence of culture offered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Hope we have the chance to meet you, your wife and young son! Again, Congratulations ClearBlueSky and family!! PapaBear B)
  3. Sorry Randy.....you're wrong about California. California DMV looks at the I-94 for issuance along with a valid EAD and SSN. I know this because my wife got her California DL some four months before receiving her GC and we were worried because her DL expired the same date shown on the I-94. But you're right....it does vary state to state. PapaBear B)

  10. Yes indeed.....very interesting. Some in China equate him to the George Washington of China?? What's even more interesting is who his wife was and the story of The Three Soong Sisters and how their father made his fortune. Check it out! PapaBear

  17. Congratulations to your wife and to you too! This is a great accomplishment and the culmulation of so much work and effort. What a great feeling it must be! But also, I can relate to her feelings to her Mother Land. Someday, in the near future, my wife and I will have to make a decision on her becoming an American Citizen or remaining a Chinese Nationalist. Don't know just now which way we'll go. She wants citizenship more than I want it for her. Of course we also have a vested interest in China in the form of her monthly retirement and our home we purchased last year there. Decisions, decisions!! Congratulations .... to the both of you. Be very proud!! PapaBear
  18. Yes....this has been the case for most transfered to CSC! Good news indeed!! PapaBear
  19. Yes....the black hole of namecheck. It can be extremely trying on the nerves. Especially since you can't track it....and because every case is different, no pattern can be established. The IO at our AOS interview told us that if the family name of your SO is a common one (in China most all are common) it will take longer. Our's took 5 months to complete after our AOS interview. But there are several around her who have namechecks which began over a year ago..... Hang in there and try to keep the faith that it'll happen! If you are thinking of taking any trips back to China in the next 6-12 months, I'd suggest you apply for Advance Parole. For AOS cases AP is processed through the MSC and they are taking 90-120 days to process (currently they'rej working on Mid-December applications). Good luck to you and just keep in mind........she's here with me now, thank God we're not waiting for this apart from each other!! PapaBear
  20. Congratulations!! Nine days..... PapaBear

  24. If you have a local IRS Office near where you live, you can take the W7 request and supporting documents (passport...notorized will surfice, I included a copy of our translated marriage certificate) and you can get the ITIN right then and there, then send your tax form to the normal address or e-file. Otherwise, you must send all of this together to an address.....I think is in PENN. PapaBear
