I had a nice talk with Andrew Simkin this afternoon,and we discussed the reasoning behind Guagzhou's stubborn lack of communication. I have been contemplating a trip to Guangzhou to have a direct confrontation with those guys who say that the clearence for this case has not been recieved. Anrew asked me at that point if he had given me a cable number. I said that he hadnt and with that he started checking if there were one available. I have allways wondered how a case clearence kept from getting lost. It seems that Guangzhou runs at least two systems. One which carries all our case data and is accessed by the case number GUZXXXXXXX. And another system that is dedicated to incoming communications. The problem is that the two do not directly interact and a clearence message can sit in the system indefinatly while it is waiting for someone to see both and to make a note on the other that the clearence was recieved. There is no shoe box as I once thought,but a series of files in two parts of a computer. I took the Cable # and penned an e-mail to Guangzhou showing them the cable number and the case number.By this Im convinced that the clearence for my girl is in Guangzhou. Im kinda ticked off that so simple a problem can take so long to solve,and that I have to show these people how to do it. My next step is to take this method to the consulate itself. In Person,then let them say they havent recieved the clearence. To Whom it May Concern; The above referenced case has been cleared for final Visa processing. The clearence for this case was transmitted on February 14,2003.See State Message # XXXXXXX When you send the visa pickup notice for this case please send a duplicate copy to this e-mail address or to fax # XXXXXXXXXX Please include the EMS Tracking number and the date the notice was sent. Excuse me?? Sounds like the teachers ran the show there? Or was it your wife deciding her daughter would be more comfortable with the teachers with a new name? Tell me it's the latter. I'm sure it is Sounded odd to me too, but the wife says that the teachers insisted on calling her by the name she uses now and she was getting into trouble for not responding. She was from a broken home, her father having abandoned her and her mother because her mother had the audacity to have a girl instead of a boy and meant that she got picked on alot growing up. my girl is the small one in her family. She has never been strong. Even now she cant walk long distances without getting exausted. That and being a girl in China she had a rough time growing up. She was badly ill as an infant and nearly died. Her legs give her trouble and will so more later in life.
