  1. Here's a followup question with the Affadavit of Support. How long does the Verification of Deposit statements from the bank last? Does it have an expiration date? I just moved, because of the new address, I'm affraid, if I submit the latest copy of my bank statements and Verification of Deposit, it will confuse the narrow minded, easily confused, GUZ officers. I've already request several copies of the statements during my 7 month wait after we submitted our P3 (last one was December). The next request will include my new address and all our paperwork has my old address.
  2. da64, Your timeline looks like mine. We sent our P3 back in Aug. 26, and as in your case, they also told me that they never got it back (2 months later). So we sent them again, and so, 5 months later we are still waiting. We got all the same responses as you got. I tried to write my Senator, but I guess he's too busy to respond. Anyway, currently, the only consistent date I got from them is Nov. 5. This is when our case was ready to be scheduled for an interview. Well, good luck, and kudos to your congressman for responding to you. I think the lesson learned is to keep track of the P3 sent to them, track the main, and make sure they enter your case in a timely manner.
  3. Congratulations and welcome to your SO. I would be worried if she thinks things are cheap here... Your post shows how excited and happy your are... great for you, take care of her...
  4. I'm not sure if you have many choices. Getting a tourist visa may be very difficult for her. It would be easier for you to go there. You can always try Canada...
  5. I would keep bugging them, does not matter anyway, it will take a while. So hang in there and don't worry about getting them pissed, you are just a number to them, just like the rest of us...
  6. Lassetter, Make sure you track the P3 and keep asking if they have received your paperwork. I sent mine in late Aug. (got confirmation that it was delivered from the mail service), waited a month, then started bugging them about it. After several inquiries, finally found out in late Oct. that they still don't have the paperwork. They claimed that they never got it, yeah right, anyway, I had to re-send it. They finally got it and my case was entered into their computer on Nov. 2nd. We lost almost 3 months! AAARRRRR!!!!! Anyway, don't want this to happen to others... Good luck!
  7. Sounds like a pretty normal response from them. I think I got the same scripted reply. Sometimes, they will reply with something that will get you a little excited, like: "you interview is about to be schedule...in a FEW months..." they can't even say a couple of months. One thing I noticed, it is veerrrrrryyy difficult to get something specific from them. They probably write a report at the end of the year for their oversight committee that shows that they have responded to all the e-mail inquiries. They could say, that they did their job. Anyway, it would be interesting to find out how many types of "canned" e-mails they have.
  8. Bill, I heard that your seeing your passport in your fiancee/wife's hand during the interview is a big, big help. good luck!
  9. If you are in the market for a phone you can use in China, make sure it is an Unlocked tri-band GSM phone. When you get to China, you can get a SIM card there and it should be compatible. In fact, if you are a GSM subscriber here in the US, you can use it as well. I have a tri-band phone and I've used it in Hong Kong, China, the Philippines and in the US, no problem, just make sure you get an Unlocked phone. If you travel to Europe, you can use it there as well. You can find them on E-bay and even Ubid. Another suggestion, you can actually get a SIM card that would work in China from a travel agent in the US. You will pay a little more, but it makes things much easier in the Airport. I called my girl as soon as I landed and they knew exactly when I came out of the gate. good luck.
  10. I wish there was a place where you could place complaints like the BBB. The same type of thing happened to me. We send our P3 in at the end of Aug. Got the mail confirmation. I followed up with with some e-mails, one reply came back with, "we have not received your P3". 2 MONTHS Later! Apparently, they never got it... yeah right...Of course they never got it... Well, we immediately sent another copy. This time, I was persistent, and kept asking if they actually got the package (via e-mail). To make a long story short, they just added more than 2 months to our interview wait time. Our case was finally added to the database on Nov. 4th. I was so pissed... I had to start my 6 month countdown again. Assuming everything goes well, Its going to take them almost 9 months just to process the P3.
