Hi all, Since Lizi and Mimi have arrived I haven't had many free moments that I could put together and spend time on CFL. But, now I come to you all in your infinite wisdom to ask if there is anyone out there who has adopted their spouse's children? This is not an issue that I have raised in insecurity, but one that Lizi has decided would be good us as a family. So if you are out there, I thank you for your experience. Tom

Lizi and I submitted some of our studio "wedding" pictures with our P1 and I think Lizi might have brought them with her to the interview too. Lizi had no problem getting what she calls "the fucking visa"! I would be care what I sent them though, definitely don't want them confused and thinking you are really married. I wanted to have a wedding ceremony for Lizi's family, but she wouldn't allow it. She didn't want to have the ceremony and then be refused a visa. She would have been heart broken.

When Lizi practices her "I know everything" I always tell her, "OK, I'm ben dan (stupid)." And in her infinite benevolence she says, "You're not bendan! You're Bendan's daddy!"

Great question! I would make an NTSC tape. From an earlier post some said that all of the consulates around the world are set up with American equipment, standardization purposes. Lizi and I borrowed her uncles Digital Video recorder to make the tape. I brought the DV tape home and transfered it to VHS. I had some friends help me, because I also don't have a Video recorder. But I did find out that local access TV stations have the capability to transfer DV to VHS, and will do this for a small fee. The great thing about DV is that is color scheme independent, No PAL or NTSC!

Maybe it won't be a big issue. Just make sure everything gets filled out correctly when your P3 arrives. Liz's name was written incorrectly in one place of our petition and she wrote down the wrong name for her ex-husband!! How someone does that is beyond me, but better she forgets his name than remembers!

Lizi and I made a 13 minute video tape while I was in China in Dec/Jan. The VO noticed it during her interview and asked why she made the tape. When she answered that it was to show that we had no problems communicating he said that was very smart. That's as far as it went. It is possible that just knowing that we had a tape may have kept us from getting a blue slip, but who really knows. It's better safe than sorry!

I've tried everything except "Excessive Happiness" Maybe it will help Thank you all for your congratulatory posts! When Lizi gets home she is going to email me all of the questions the VO asked her, there were very many. One was even asked 3 separate times! I'll pass them along to everyone here when I get them. -- a slightly awake bald man

Congratulations Bruce and Ying! This is really great news! Lizi's interview is tomorrow and I hardly slept at all last night, I hope hers goes as smoothly.

Lizi always says "really exactly" to drive a point home, or "so scary me". The second has got me saying "so funny me" and I have to watch myself around my friends so that I don't say it to them!
