Once again...thanks all! I would love to be able to be there for the interview when it is time. I could probably manage it in terms of getting time off school and work. Sadly, I don't think I could manage it financially. I am not poor, and my SO and I will live comfortably here after we are married....but I don't think I could manage additional trips there. I HOPE THE FACT THAT I ONLY WENT THERE ONCE WILL NOT HURT OUR CHANCES OF GETTING PINK.

Hey all...me again. I don't know if I posted this in the right place but...here goes. After looking at many of the other members' timelines, I noticed that a lot of petitioners traveled to China and were present at their SO's interview at the consulate. This may sound like a stupid question and maybe I should have researched this whole process better before I started it but....IS IT REQUIRED THAT I BE THERE WITH HER AT THE INTERVIEW? I am a full-time college student and work full-time so it would be difficult for me to take the time off from both to make the trip. Of course, if it is necessary for me to be there....then I WILL MAKE WHATEVER SACRIFICE I HAVE TO. But if my stay there would be more than 5 days, then that would not be good, professionally or academically. I know my petition hasn't even been approved yet and I am probably "jumping the gun" on this, but I figured it would be a good idea to find out the answer in advance so I can plan accordingly. Once again..thanks in advance. I love this place. Also...congrats to all members who have interviews coming up. GOOD LUCK!

Hey all...I am a little confused about what exactly the NOA1 and NOA2 is. I did receive something from the USCIS within 2 weeks of filing the I-129F, but I am not exactly sure what it is. The form number on it is I-797. Is this the NOA1? Will I eventually be assigned a case number or something? Can someone explain the differnece between the NOA1 and NOA2?

Thank you all for your help. It makes me feel alot better to know that just because I am a felon does not necessarily mean an automatic denial of the petition. I realize that it may cause delays, but what is important to me is that it is eventually approved. I have told my SO everything about my conviction. Even if I would not have HAD to tell her, I would have done so anyway. A couple should be able to be open and honest with each other. By the way...I read all the threads relating to felony convictions, and someone said that felons can't have passports. I am 99.9% positive that this is not true. It is possible that the government decides whether or not to issue one depending on the charges, but I was issued a passport on October 2007. I travelled to China(Nanning) in December to meet my SO. I am not sure if I posted this in the right place but I am in desperate need of help. I am a convicted felon in the state of Indiana. It happened 6 years ago and it was not for any of the specific crimes listed on the I-129F form. Also, my fiancee already knows about it. Since I am a felon, will the USCIS automatically deny my petition? Are there any other felons on here that went through the Visa process? If there are, could you please help me.
