david_dawei
I have read the below message on the consulate website.. which states that the DS-157 only needs to be submitted in english (the chinese version does not have to be filled out).1. Is this applicable to K-# visa applicants?2. If #1 is yes, is this also true of the DS-156?----DS-157 Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa ApplicationAll applicants 16 years of age and older must complete the DS-157 application form, which is one page. Click here to download the DS-157 form, type your answers in the space provided below each item and print out the completed form. You don't need to fill out a Chinese DS-157, but if you need its Chinese translation to help understand the English form, click here. (Note: When filling out Item 3 'Full Name (In Native Alphabet)', Chinese applicants should write down their full name in Chinese characters. Chinese applicants must also fill out items 5, 6, 7, 12 & 17 in Chinese characters.) Link to comment

snoopy
When IV applicants having their medical examination in Guangzhou healthcare facilities, the panel physician facilities check their materials for completeness and putting the documents in the proper order and place them in a sealed envelop for interview. These Hospitals insist the DS-156/DS-157 forms must be filled out by hand-writing rather than Adobe Reader filled while there is no such requirement or enforcement from other cities¡¯Consulate appointed facilities. Would you please clarify if this is mandatory requirement (Fill out DS-156/DS-157/GIV-24 by hand-writing) or it is just some hospitals¡¯own policy? Link to comment
USCONGUZ
The Consulate does not require that these forms be filled out by hand. Typed or Adobe Reader filled is acceptable. Link to comment
Santop
''K visa applicants must fill out and submit the Chinese version of these forms''. What if the K1 applicant is a foreigner in China who can neither read nor write Chinese? Many thanks for your quick response. Edited May 13, 2006 by Santop (see edit history) Link to comment
USCONGUZ
If the beneficiary is a foreigner in China who neither reads nor writes Chinese, the Chinese version of the forms would not be required. There are different language versions of these forms. Check the U.S. Embassy or Consulate websites in your beneficiary's home country to see if the forms are available in their native language (if it would help the beneficiary complete the forms in English). SallyHon
Dear USCONGUZ: 1. For K1 or K3 applicants, must they submit Electronic Visa Applications Form (EVAF) DS -156? 2. Does DS-156 form have to bear a bar code? Thanks a ton...) Link to comment
USCONGUZ
In the Immigrant Visa Unit, K1 and K3 applicants are not required to submit the EVAF DS-156. Link to comment
