tonado
My wife flew out of Boston today to JFK and then to HK, GZ, and then Nanning. The flight out of Boston is AA and the flight from JFK to HK is Cathay Pacific. As of March 1st this year, AA allows only up to 50 lbs per bag (2 bags max). Since my wife had two bags weighting over 57 lbs and 70 lbs, she had to pay $50 surcharge. Cathay Pacific allows 70 lbs per bag. United Airlines also allows only 50 lbs max too. I think China Southern Air will charge her for heavy bags too when she flies out from GZ to Nanning. So try to convince your gal to travel light. Link to comment

beijingjenny
I just called United cuz we are flying today, and it's still 32 kg each suitcase. Perhaps this was because you were flying to HK. China and US have a special agreement. Link to comment
