SSN first?

Do my SO and I need to get a SSN before we can apply for a marriage license or can we marry right away and then apply?

Nevermind. I called the ciruit court today and they said it was not necessary. But I guess she will need the SSN before we apply for the AOS. I plan to do it all at the same time. Or should I wait for the SSN to come through before I apply for AOS?

Actually, you don't need an SSN to file for AOS.

We will hopefully be going through this process soon also. I was looking at the info on the 'visajourney' site and it says not to apply for SSN until your SO is here for 2 weeks or it will actually slow down the process. Does this sound right? I had hoped to apply right away after getting married which we are planning the day after her arrival.

but looking at the AOS form I-485..it ask for one and does not mention that it is optional either. Also the I-485 is also asking for a "A#"..what is that and I-94#,is that the departure number? Date of last arrival..is that when her I-94 was stamped by customs at airport in USA?
