The majically changing immigration status

Recommended Posts

Nicole picked up her actual visa today, and with all the white slips changing to blue we were still nervous about that.

White slip stayed white as it were but we recieved a good surprise. Our 2 year wedding anniversary is today, and yesterday at the interview we were still CR-1 visa. Seems the visa information was entered into the computer this morning, and presto chango, computer sees 2 years from wedding to visa and automatically (I guess) changes category from CR-1 to IR-1.

Saves a lot of hassles, no AOS, and the SS number application gets filed automatically when we show up in U.S. For once the computer helped the situation.

We're relieved, but had to have a couple glasses of wine to wind down from all this. I asked her what she wanted to see when she came to US, her answer was "Willie Nelson, Elton John, Jon Bon Jovi" Guess we're going to a lot of concerts.

Great Luck..:)

Bea got her CR1 but we were married over 2 years before she hits the states shores. INS officer at NYC stamped her passport with a IR1 and her paper works as well.. but she only got a CR1 green card.. so now we are following this up from here..
