I found a program that teaches phonics for "adults"- not the famous phonics program for children.

It seems to have more detail to it than the famous program.

This one has many more cd's of word pronunciation. And a better price.

Their advertisement states it is great for those learning English.

I am wondering if anyone has tried using phonics to help their fiancee/spouse learn English.

It may help with proper pronunciation of words that seem to get trashed in the learning process.

We are using some grade school stuff to begin with the basics.

After all it is how most of us learned english.

Phonics is very important, some easy rules and you can pronounce almost any word.

It does not even matter what the word actually means, you can pronounce it.

On the flip side,if you hear a word and understand the phonics rules, you can usually figure out how it is spelled.

Therefor you can look it up in the dictionary for the meaning.

You can go as far as you want with this,cd,cd-rom.

But for 3 dollars at Walmart, you can get a good start on the basics.
