hank
Shouldn't the February interviews be scheduled by now? Has anyone heard anything? For those longtime CFL members, is this normal or should we be concerned about new changes and further delays? A Press Statement on the consulate's website states that they are now issuing 12 month multiple-entry business and tourist visas. Could they be diverting resources to processing these new visas? PapaBear
Well....I have just found out...The Spigot Is Dripping! Having returned our P3 in September, I have been quite anxious to find out our interview date. I called DOS last week and was told "your case is pending." Previously, I had been told by DOS "case is ready for interview." The past week I have been mildly to moderately depressed. Boo Hoo Hoo! This morning when I call DOS and requested the status, I was surprised to have been told: February 15th at 08:00. This was pretty exciting, then when I realized this appointment date was the first "working day" for the consulate after the week long holiday for Chinese New Year, I became quite nerveous. I must travel to Beijing just days before the NY, then we must together fly to Guangzhou on Sunday or Monday (the end of NY and a traveling nightmare in all of China's airports). Whew....I don't know if I should laugh or cry.....excited and scared! Truly, what I believe has happened is: someone else was scheduled for this date and passed on it, so this highly efficient consulate plugged us in instead. But, what the hell.....we've been waiting so long to be together. We had our 1-year wedding anniversary on 11/12/05 and were so disappointed we were not together yet. We began this paperwork on January 15, 2004. I don't know where BCIS, DOS or the Consulate in Guangzhou has their heads......but my guess is some place far from the light of day! What a long strange trip this journey has been! But my heart has never been happier. I just grin and bear it! Link to comment

pkfops
Don't forget, February is a big holiday month. Government employees will make the most of it. Maybe 15 working days........ Don't expect too much. Link to comment
hank
Your interview appointment is good news. I hope that all of the CFL members who sent P3's in September can get interviews in February. Link to comment
yave20b
Just got through to DOS. Unfortunately my fiancee has not been scheduled for an interview yet. It's looking more and more like March is the soonest for us. Link to comment

Will you have to make a trip to GZ in the week prior to NY to get the medical exam? Does anyone know the GZ hospital work schedule during NY? Link to comment
PapaBear
Your point is well made, thank you for bringing it to mind. My wife lives in Beijing and will have her Medical done at a hospital there (approved and listed by the consulate). I know that you must have all of your paperwork together and ready for the envelop which the hospital seals and is not opened until you are before the VO at the interview. She has everything in hand now, with the exception of my I-134, which I plan on bringing with me. So....we must look into the availability of getting an appointment soon after I arrive, which will be Friday, Feb 4th. Hummm, the 8th is CYN, a Tuesday. Uh-oh, could be a problem. I'll have to work on that! Thanks again for bring up the medical subject. PapaBear Link to comment

mike_m
to elcajongr: I think there is a list of hospitals authorized to perform the medical examination on the US Embassy website. I don't have it at hand, but I think you can get there from www.state.gov. You may consider having the exam done before Chinese New Year at a hospital that is more convenient than Guangzhou. As I recall there were telephone numbers on the list of hospitals. Link to comment
