airline conflict

Okay here is the probem,

I am traveling to china for her interview, so far, i can get round trip tickets from the USA to China, for us both, wich is cheaper. I have been informed, that an E-ticket will be useless, unless she flyes from the USA? if she is not here, how can the tickets be useless. I was told that the airline will check it as a no show. therefore voiding the ticket. Wow, how will i get tickets from china to the states for us both?

anyone have any suggestions :P :P

You're right about the "no-show" problem. If you miss the first leg of the round trip, you're usually SOL on the return leg.

Some options are 1) make reservations/buy tickets in China where the prices are actually a bit less; 2) buy round trip, with China -> US being the first leg; 3) buy one way tickets; 4) wait at CFL for one of the members from the travel industry to read your post and offer better advice. ;)

You have to work very hard for the best deals.

Every few days I do a "30 day drill".

I figure I can get the job done for about $1500 when

it becomes time.

thanks,

looks like boot camp all over again. I got something so far, around $1800. I don't think i can get any lower. Seems the one way flight for her, is more than my entire trip. Ahhh the price of love, is it not grand. She is worth a lot more than money can buy.

I had my fiancée purchase a round trip ticket in China to depart on Jan 15 2005. NWA is having a promotion. It cost 420 USD to fly round trip from Guangzhou China to New York JFK. Must be purchased before Jan 31. I bought her a round trip ticket from Guangzhou to Providence RI from NWA for 729 USD round trip. We picked a return date for May 31 2005 taxes included. Of course using the return date is optional. We can plan a trip to China and purches a one way ticket when the price falls and I receive the World perks miles. She purchased them at the China hotel in Guangzhou. Her interview date is Jan 7 2005. If something were to go wrong we can change the date for 150 USD to fly to USA at a later date.

When I travelled to China from Sept 13 - Oct 15 My price was 459 USD +20,000 World perks miles round trip. I booked it well in advance. But if you want to visit NYC that is a very cheap price. Have her compare the price in China and you can purchase them with your credit card. If you do allot of traveling to China sign up for the World perks

I know NWA lands in Detroit or Minneapolis when it lands in the USA you can purchase the ticket to JFK for 429 US$ then purchase a one way ticket to your destination in the USA from Detroit or Minneapolis I checked the price from JFK to Providence and it was 200 USD You just have to figure out your options

One last thing On NWA you can print out and chose your seat 24 hours before the flight. I now I sound like an ad for NW. I gained this knowledge after travelling to and from China 4 times. How many chose a window seat from China to USA only to find out when nature calls the 2 people next to you are sleeping. I chose an end seat close to the rest room and movie screen. I will help my Fiancee choose her seat and download her E ticket the day before she arrives. :D

wow, looks like you have quite a deal, on the other hand. I rather stay away from NY, it is just out of the way for me. I am trying to connect from chicago to connecticut, from beijing. It will work out. I have the flight plan i need, and the price. oh well, it will last forever, it shall make an interesting trip for us both.

thanks,

I found out early morning on Dec 9 Yue's interview was Jan 5. I was in a hotel room 2000 miles from home. I need to leave in less than three weeks! I wanted to be there well before the interview. I wasn't goint to look to far for great deals.

I checked with some of the online travel services and then with NWA and Delta directly and found Delta/CS Air just as "cheap" as any. $1540. Different dates were much higher with both the agents an the airline. I booked it online, picked seats with an empty seat next to me (exit row), and imediately called Delta and booked Yue in the seat next to me. $1040 one way.

I think I might have been able to get her an "award ticket" if I had the time to stay on the phone, but I had people waiting. We can use those miles to see America.

GZ screws us sometimes with this short notice. But if all goes well, we will be travelling home together :D

well this site has been a blessing, i have always seen people helping each other so much. I think the money issue is not the problem any more, i just want to go to China and bring back my future wife, and maybe, while we are airborn, we can wave goodby to this awful waiting nightmare

thanks CFL members, and best of luck to those who are interviewing right now, and for those yet to come.

I also bought my first two trips to China through FlyChina. I was going to purchase this trip for my fiancée through them. They wanted 759USD for a one way ticket from Guangzhou to Providence. In China Hotel in Guangzhou they wanted 729 USD round trip. The 410 USD round trip to NYC was dirt-cheap. I posted it in case anyone wants to fly out of Guangzhou to NYC before JAN 31

I'm assuming NWA had a sale on tickets from Guangzhou to NYC, because the new Guangzhou airport just opened this year. This was NWA first venture their, maybe they offered very cheap tickets to the Chinese travel agents for flights out of Guangzhou and my fiancée was lucky to buy one.
