Wife needs birth certificate but cant get ID

Recommended Posts

Will do! Thanks again!

Just happened to stop by, my wife's 'birth certificate" was really more a notarized copy of what it said in her Hoku. Among other things it said her mother is deceased. Hope you had good luck.

Anyone who has a Chinese ID and a hukou is a bonafide Chinese citizen, and SHOULD be able to get a notarial certificate of birth.

"Deceased" or even "unknown" are valid entries for one or both parent's name. They CAN ask for the certificate of death, but as long as you GO there and ask, you can almost assuredly get one.

The notarial certificate of birth is simply the notarial official's statement of the known facts of the matter.

Most of the "difficulties" you read about are people who haven't yet done the leg-work.

We just got back from getting her notorial birth certificate and background check. They wanted to see her Hukou and parents IDs, scanned and printed not physical ID. The process once we got to her hometown was very easy and the background check was done very quickly. Now we're just waitig for the whitebooks to arrive.

Thanks Randy and everyone else for any advice or help.
