Incredible synchronized performance from Shaolin students at this year’s Spring Festival Gala

The only act you really need to watch from last night

Quote

With its signature mix of campy performances, stale comedic skits, and patriotic pomp, most Chinese people will tell you that this year’s Spring Festival Gala was worse than last year’s, which in turn was worse than the year before and so on and so on.

However, there was at least one legitimately remarkable act from Monday night in the form of thousands of Shaolin students performing synchronized martial arts moves, spelling out characters, and, of course, holding up one absolutely massive Chinese flag

这名来自广东珠海的女医生,为何甘愿自讨苦吃,到中国最偏远落后的西南大峡谷里当“背篓医生”?

Why is this female doctor from Zhuhai, Guangdong, willing to ask for her own food and go to the most remote and backward Southwest Grand Canyon in China as a “reciting doctor”?

Writing robot
A Chinese schoolgirl bought a writing robot for 800 yuan ($120) to write her homework.
“This is too deceptive. If you don’t look closely, it's hard to distinguish what’s real,” her mother yelled at the robot after figuring it out.

I was helping our little nephew with his homework one night. He was mispronouncing almost every word with an "a" on the end like doga, cata etc. When he went back to school the next day his teacher crawled all over his ass about it. He was instructed to not tell her anything about me being there so the poor little feller had to kind of bear the brunt of his teacher's scorn all alone. So I felt it best not to help him anymore.
