After long administrative processing, now they want her passport

Recommended Posts

It was under administrative processing (probably because she was CCP member?) for just over 180 days (they said contact us again after 90 days if you haven't heard anything, when we contacted them after 90 days then they again said contact us again after 90 days if you haven't heard anything!) I guess her health check and police report expired by now?

Anyway now we got this e-mail below, requesting her passport, a new police certificate, and a new health check, and 2 passport style photos which we sent in yesterday through CITIC Bank. We assume this means they are approving the visa and we should have the visa within about two weeks? Are we assuming correct and is that the approximate timeline? We'd love to spend x-mas in USA together, and we're trying to make tentative plans. Any info or tips about this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Yes, they want the passport so that they can affix the visa into it.

Yes, Police cert tends to be valid 6 months, as well as medical report, it is quite common for them to request updated reports, if vaccinations done on first medical, bring the yellow book to the medical, and they probably will do the secondary shots for the two shot ones.

Glad I found this website, my fiance' and I have been going through the rigors of 221(g) for months. Finally, I had an email this morning (exact same one as Blue Rock) and I must say when first glancing over it I was devastated to see that it said nothing about approval, only "under section221(g)..."

Reading this makes me very happy. Congrats Blue Rock!

dnoblett - I was wondering, in the email to my fiance, they requested the passport with 8 months validity and two new visa photos. They also requested a return to the panel physician for a new medical exam.

I have a couple of questions that I wonder if you know the answer to: -

1.) I'm assuming her re-exam can be done at any certified medical panel and not just in Guangzhou (her first was done in Guangzhou days before her interview but Shanghai is closer)

2.) They did not ask for an updated police report but it is approaching 6 months. Should she get a new one even though they didn't ask for it?

3.) I'm assuming she should not send in her passport until she has undergone the updated medical exam

Thanks so much for your help guys!

1) Yes, Beijing or Shanghai have medical centers approved by US DOS. And in the case of fiancee, I highly recommend getting the required vaccinations or vaccination record done on the DS-3025 recorded and sealed in a separate envelope to bring to the USA for later use when adjusting status, this will save you from hassles later.

2) An updated police report + translation would be a good idea.

3) Yes.
