Things you see when your wife is Chinese

I thought it might be fun to see what sort of strange things you see when you have a Chinese spouse. Last night I go into the bathroom and there in the tub in about 2 inches of water are these huge bamboo leaves soaking. Apparently they are for the sticky rice soaking in the kitchen sink.

 

What strange things have you guys encountered? Photos if possible.

I don't have a picture ..

We had dead chickens hanging outside on our back porch for 2 weeks.

 

While that might work in China (though I have doubts), here in Texas its hot ..

By the end of 2 weeks, the chickens were full of fly larva, and totally disgusting!

Carl, you know as well as most of us that what once seemed so bizarre now seems so normal.

My wife won't allow any pictures but those rotten onions in a jar in the frig is the most disgusting. They are so bad they have melted down and turned black. They are suppose to be pickled with vinegar but she is so cheep that she does not put enough vinegar in them to preserve them. I have to say in her defense though she does not eat any of the things that westerners usually consider disgusting though.

You're so right Dennis. The leaves in the bathtub is pretty tame. Larry, my wife does the salted lemons in a jar on the fridge. Been there for months and they're all brown now. Funny thing is though, I've never seen her eat them.

HAHAHA That's funny Carl. I have never seen my wife eat any of them but I sure have smelled them when we go to bed.

Let's not forget about the salted eggs in a jar. She must of put a pound of salt in that jar and was twice as salty as the ocean. I told her it would have been cheaper to by them in the Chinese market but we MUST do it ourselves.

Pork ribs on a string hung to dry across all windows and she makes this disgusting shoup (soup) with whole eggs and vinegar which is black in color when done.

Pickled garlic cloves. Eaten straight out the jar.

Apples, lots of apples in the fridge. Why strange? They all came from a vacation trip, collected from the hotel elevator bank where they had free apples for the guests.

Well my wife is pretty down to earth.

 

No food in the bath tube (Sorry Carl) for she say People clean here.

No food hanging from the rafters, Though there is something in a large jar on the kitchen counter

that has been fermenting for about 4 years.

She cooks with it everyday and I'm still alive so it must be good for me.

 

But there is two things i have seen that the wife likes to do.

 

4Wheelers and Guns.

We have strings of sausages and fish hanging out of every window but that's pretty normal here in China.

She didn't make sausage this year, usually that's what the pool cleaning poles are used for.

Oh we don't use the bathtub for bathing. She starts the seeds for her garden there when she isn't soaking leaves.

Now that spring has finally arrived the wife has turned her attention towards her vegetable garden. Some Chinese engineering at it's finest constructed out of what else besides bamboo?

 

They are for her snow peas, Chinese green beans and cucumbers to climb on.
