rschaadtw
Has there been any changes in Chinese laws regarding permanent residency for foreign spouses? Options: 1. I heard, but know if it is correct, that the foreign spouse can indefinitely renew his tourist visa without leaving the country. 2. If one arrives in China with a 'Z' visa, work permit, all he/she has to do is get his/her green book extended by his/her employer. 3. One can keep going to Hong Kong every 3 or 6 months for a business visa. Other then though options mentioned above, has there been any changes?Any ideas, suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. PS-I did learn that Chinese men in Malaysia can apply for permanent residency for their wives, but the women cannot for their foreign husbands. This may have changed. Please don't hold me 100% to this. Link to comment
Mick
The only one of the options you mentioned that I know about is #2. I was in China for five years on a Z visa. It was renewed yearly by my employer. Link to comment
danswayne
I have a friend in Beijing married to a Chinese lady and he has a family based visa. Pretty close to a green card here, but he has to get it renewed every 3 or 6 months. Everything is done in Beijing though, no expensive trips to HK every few months. Link to comment
owenkrout
Supposedly there is soon to be a true permanent residency available to those who a judged to be worthy of such. That translates into having the right guanxi or being an international businessman. Or finding the right palm to grease. We are hoping to retire to Dalian, so I will be wanting one of those myself in the future. Link to comment
warpedbored
I keep seeing the term guanxi come up. I presume this means something like having a friend in the right place or influence or contacts? is this correct? Link to comment
