New US Passport Getting Visa For China?

Recommended Posts

What recent Visa Services have you used to obtain your Chinese Visa for your US passport? it has been a year and so much has change I was hoping for some recommendations. We plan on traveling in April.

My wife will soon receive her new US passport will she need to send her Chinese passort to the Visa Service when she obtains her visa for travel to China? I was told that they clip or punch a hole in it so it shows it is not valid?

Thanks Bill

Nothing recent either.

I do recall seeing Visarite in more than one post over the years. I've used them.

Here's what the Houston Consulate says: "4.First time applicant whose former nationality was Chinese, shall write down his Chinese name in the application form and submit his original Chinese passport or the photocopy of the information page of the passport.Applicant who was formerlyChinese and has acquireda new US passport,if thereis a Chinese visa in the old passport, shall submit his old US passport or the photocopy of the Chinese visa."

They use the PRC Passport (we were told) as proof of your wife's Chinese birth and, therefore, the right to extended visa duration, number of entries and length of stay.

I've heard the hole punched story, also. Lately, several people (and, they rate above just a "somebody" rating) have stated they got the passport back in good shape.

When we spoke by telephone to the passport lady at PRC Embassy in D.C. the impression I got was they you give it back to you. However, the worker stated the passport gets canceled in their computer system. Yet, others claim to still be traveling freely on their passport.

So, get the visa and then tell us, OK? p.s. don't overlook the page about requesting one year multiple visit visas issued 'Pursuant to Sino-US agreement on business & tourism visa' here: http://houston.china-consulate.org/eng/vp/zgqz/t271160.htm

I haven't tried this one, but will as soon as the kids US Passports get resolved. Has a note about Chinese born US Citizens:

U.S. citizens of Chinese origin who were born in China (including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau), may apply for up to 24 months months validity visa, with stays in China of up to 30-90 days each visit. A written application for stays up to 6 months may be considered.
