eseum
We have two computers, one with XP and the other with Vista. My wife has downloaded some Chinese stock market ticker programs. Some of the Chinese characters show up correctly but there are some Chinese characters that do not display correctly. Is there a way to get them to display as they should? C4Racer
It depends on the program, what language of OS it is programmed to run on and how it is coded. The first thing to check is under Regional settings make sure the setting for non-Unicode programs is set for Chinese (Simplified - PRC). The second is check the program for a page encoding setting. You want it to be set for Unicode UTF-8. Mozilla Thunderbird is one of those kind of programs you have to tweek on the settings to get Chinese to display properly. If those don't work , make sure the program is allowed to run on English Windows. Programs designed for Chinese Windows will not always run or display correctly on English Windows. You can then see if they have a version made for your OS. Hope this helps. Edited January 19, 2009 by C4Racer (see edit history)
david_dawei
one thought is if they character set is traditional but the computer is set to simplified. Also, I think Randy has mentioned in the past on this topic about the japanese character set to display stuff that won't show up... maybe try to also install that in the Regional settings.
