Citizenship Interview Experience

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to get this topic pinned on the experiences of our members at the Citizenship Interview listing:

Questions asked?

Sentences asked to be read.

Sentences asked to be written, and etc.

This would be helpful for the ones who will be going to the interview but it will also be interesting to see what the differences will be when changing from the old test to the new one. Will there be a new style or manner in the way they conduct their interview/test.

Thanks

First looked at her DL and GC. Then asked what test she wanted, new or old. Then had to read "He knows how to ride a bike." Then had to write, "She cooks for her friends." Then asked these questions:

1) What do the stars on the flag mean?

2) What do we celebrate on the 4th of July?

3) Who was the first president of the United States?

4) Who is the Vice President today?

5) What is the legislative branch of our government?

6) How many Senators are there in Congress?

7) Whose rights are guarenteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights?

8) In what month do we vote for the President?

9) In what month is the new President inaugurated?

10) What is the most important right granted to United States citizens?

In the interview:

Had to swear to tell the truth. Asked name and how many times we both had been married. Asked about the 4 trips my wife has taken to China since she entered the US. How long has been married and where married. Then asked all the questions in Part 10 of the N-400. Then signed the N-400 and all was done.

This what my wife had to read, write and the questions she had to answer.

Questions:

1. What do the stripes on the flag represent?

2. What do we celebrate on 4th of July?

3. Who elects the President of the United States?

4. What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?

5. Name one right or freedom guaranteed by the first amendment.

6. In what month do we vote for the President?

She was asked to read: He wanted to find a job

She was asked to right: They work very well together.

Then she was asked many questions off of the N-400, especially about lying to the government and had she ever registered to vote. She was also asked every single question which you are expected to answer yes to... ie..

Do you understand what it means to take the full oath of allegiance to the United States?

Do you support the full oath of allegiance to the United States?

If required by law are you willing to bear arms on behalf of the United States?

She was then asked to sign the N-400.

Given a form of when to report for oath. The officer told her to fill out the form and said make sure you answer no to all of the questions.
