Birth Certificate

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Okay, I *should* know better, but I'm going to ask anyway ...

Do I need to bring a copy of my fiancee's birth certificate back to the U.S.?

We're here in Taishan City (her place of birth), so if I need anything like that, now would be the time to get it.

By the way, it sure was a lot of work, took a ton of time, for this paperwork.

Here is what I was planning on completing while I am here in China:

1. I-129F second page where you have to write the Chinese address

2. G-325a, which needs her signature

3. Statement of intent which needs her signature

Everything else I figured I could complete stateside.

Thanks,

P.J.

PJ...

Here's a checklist of everything I sent the service center. JM will have to bring some of it with her again, but at least I knew they had it. Remember...I'm a big believer in over-kill and redundancy. Some of the info isn't required until the interview....they want it? They'll get so much of it, it'll make them either happy or sick. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/_950/greedy.gif

Hi

Be sure to bring at least one extra (three would be better) certified copies of the birth certificate (with translations) to the U.S. when you come.

The BCIS will take the one that you show at the interview in GZ and you will need another certified copy to adjust your status. (AOS)

We are having to send an Aunt to Summer's birth place to obtain some extras.

Good Luck

When your financee goes to the local notary public office to have her brith certificate notarized, the office will make certified the birth certificate in duplicate. After she turns in one birth certificate on the interview date, she will still have another one. She may go back to the same notary public office at any time to get a copy with about 10 Yuan if she needs more. And it's very simple to get the birth certificate notarized too. She just needs to bring her family Hu Kou Ben and her ID to a local police station which is in charge of Hukou, then tell them she needs a certificate from Police station with Seal.

Bring that certificate with Hu Kou Ben and her ID to local notary public office, they will issue her notarized birth certificate in duplicate.

This list is a good source. The I-134 should be prepared later and let her bring it to the interview.

You should also sent photos of you and your fiancee (her family too)together in China.

Birth certificate of the Chinese fiancee is not required for I-129F. You should sent in your Citizen (naturalization paper) instead of birth certificate if you weren't born in USA.

Read http://www.k1faq.com/#3.1 for more info.

HI PJ,

Chinadave and Francine are correct. You don't need a copy of her birth certificate for the I-129f. She will need it for her interview at GZ, and again when you file the Adjustment of Status.

By the way, Eric has a great post on the things you'll need when you're ready to file the adjustment of status forms!

Best Wishes
