Well, we got blue, the blue ask for "statments" from me on travel and evolution of relationship, no problem, but for one, the instructions say "written" does this mean actual handwritten, not typed?

From what I have read hand written is what people do.

I'd probably get a white slip and revocation of my citizenship if I submitted a hand written document, but it's not my fault that I attended public schools and only learned to scribble.

 

If your handwriting is anything like mine, I'd suggest typing it up and signing it in your neatest scrawl, but be sure to get your signature notarized.

I typed my overcome statements and had them notarized. Since my fiancee got the call-in letter saying her visa is approved (she is going to Guangzhou in a few days), typed statements were acceptable, at least in our case.
